Really enjoyed watching yesterday xc. There are so many good mares now at the top of the sport which I love to see.
Will be a very exciting showjumping today. Hope Graffenacht and William can do it x
Maybe just her body has overreacted to the tiny abrasion. We had a dainty little mare on the livery yard I worked at who was swollen and lame from a similar tiny over reach boot abrasion one day. Cleared up in a few days, try not to worry. I think she’ll be fine
Xx
I have just had hoof boot shop fitter out for my tb mares hinds and she said only boot that will work is the equine fusions. Tried them out last night and success so far! Mare is very bouncy in them and they didn’t move.
Excited to see what the future brings with them!
Gosh that was a torrid week for you.
The wind has been awful.
The jaw in the stirrup leather! Just how? They are so inventive at being dicks!
Yes mud has gone, also very grateful for that!
I’m also with a damaged finger, a horse I was riding did a stupid little spook move and I wrenched my...
Oh no! There is always something isn’t there!
I’ve been to hell and back with this hole in the foot and the mud. I am wise enough to not get too giddy about one good hack in the evening sun.
Good luck, hopefully yours is just a small blip and the vet won’t be concerned come tmrw 🤞
Hi, just checking in how you are getting on?
I have had great success with sugar and iodine in the hole in the sole. Almost miraculous transformation from hobbling around to galloping round the field in 12 hours!
Also just purchased equine fusions for the hinds and just ridden out in them and...
A friend has an old boy in his 20’s now that is still extremely suspicious of poles. Every lesson was pretty much a reintroduction of the poles on the ground that were in the same place week after week. I think some just never get over it. Perhaps they are thinking snakes! Like huge big snakes...
Only a thought. I wonder if this is dominant behaviour? Maybe he has learned he can scare you by being grumpy. I watch a lot of Steve Young horsemanship on YouTube, and he would teach the horse to respect you as the leader rather than being allowed to push you about. Basic manners.
Obviously...
She has been seen by the top racehorse guy in Cambridge. Ben Brain. He said no hoper. But that was with racing in mind to be fair.
I saw the scope on the yard and vet said where there is usually the visible channel to get the pipe down it was pretty much blocked with flesh.
I sympathise. I think when a horse that loves to jump starts stopping they are telling you something.
My ex racer is as bold as brass to jump and so when she started ducking left last autumn I backed off. And we are now trying to solve foot balance issues in the hinds which I know is part of the...
Hi, wonder if anyone has any experiences to share.
3 yr old racehorse bred filly, just broken in but makes a noise, even in trot. Scoped to find there is too much flesh blocking the access to the wind pipes. Surgery not an option. Absolutely no future as a racehorse.
But, she is the sweetest...
My 17 year old mare has just been diagnosed with an irregular heart beat and murmur. The vets advice is not to ride as the risk is high she could drop at any point. I’m happy for her to retire at this point.
I think at 23 yours is a fair age to retire.
Both of mine are running round the field naked like a pair of nutters today! Think spring is in the air! They are excited to see some decent weather as me!
I know what you mean about the bf groups but there are a few knowledgable people on there. There is a lot of infighting isnt there? 😆
I’m always experimenting on my own. Lol. Not sure if it’s wise or not, but at least I’m learning what works and what doesn’t in the meantime.
My mare snatches the right hind and bunny hops onto both hinds when I handle her hind feet. I think there is something going on higher up. But vet wanted...
I’m about an hr away from Aintree and it hasn’t stopped raining very heavily all day today. I’d be thinking Thursday’s card might be in jeopardy. The ground will be heavy at least
Feel you. Similar scenario here.
crack in the sole of one fore, I have 2 horses. A clay bog.
I can’t keep the injured party in on her own without the other cos she goes mental. So they are either both stuck in 24/7 which after being in for most of 24’ to date is crippling me financially, or...
