Sorry it's not better news about Bog, but as the others have already said, at least now you know and you have a plan. That sole-use place looks fabulous!
I'm so sorry you've lost your beautiful Molly, TP. 😢 Seizures are horrible to witness (and must be horrible to experience). A tough decision, but definitely the right one. RIP Molly.
Just an idea, @Birker2020, as you’ve mentioned being self-conscious about being judged - once you’re ready to do so, you may find it easier to go for a few rides at a trekking centre rather than lessons at an RS. Yes, the staff will still keep an eye on you to make sure you’re okay, but you’ll...
Yes, those nose nets are to stop snacking. The current ones were all handmade with some nylon cord by one of the other regular riders and her daughter. Not sure where she got the pattern.
One of the things I love about riding there is the chance to ride lots of different horses (I’m the same weight as you and 5’4”). Just this week I went from riding Barney on Thursday (who’s a 14hh Welsh B, I think) to Sahara on Saturday (16.2hh Oldenburg), both quite different but equally lovely!
I’m glad you had a good time, @Kirstd33. It’s pretty much my second home! 😂 I normally ride there every Saturday morning, but I managed an extra ride on Thursday this week too as I had a week off.
Arizona and Lola are both great, though Arizona is a bit big for my stumpy legs. The wee mare in my...
We still occasionally see some "interesting" sights on treks at Cannock Chase (e.g. the man christened "the green-faced pervert", who was eventually arrested). The most memorable good one was when we came across a couple who were flying their bird of prey (I think it was a sparrowhawk).
Where a first learned to ride, there was an Appy called Happy, who was the most miserable-looking horse! He was actually quite sweet temperament wise, though.
I have a Champion T122, and I'm really happy with it. The only downside is that I've lost weight since I bought it and now have it tightened as far as it will go, and it's a gnat's whisker (well, about 1cm) too long in the back. I bought it during Covid, so I actually took a gamble on the sizing...
I wonder if it’s also partly due to a lot of the children only having lessons in an arena of some sort, not getting out on hacks?
At the trekking centre where I ride there have been so many times when we’ve had older children join us on the experienced trek and come completely unstuck because...
Merry Christmas, everyone! Hope you have a lovely day whether you’re celebrating or not. And for those of you finding it a particularly tough time, take care of yourselves xx
