I have had 3 greys. 2 lasted til very late 20's and both had melanomas.
My current (grey) horse is in her early teens and she has melanomas.
They were picked up in her vetting and as a result theres an exclusion on them in her insurance policy (just those lumps though not colic or...
I've done both sides of the coin in the past.
One year I left Tara out for 2 nights over xmas with loads of haylage in the field. They were all fine.
This winter I have been leaving T in more as I have someone helping me ride so often she'll be ridden twice a day.
Our older mare...
Yes with a caveat.
I love having the indoor arena - it was wild weather here last night (Scotland) but I could still ride at 7pm.
Other things are just as important though - turnout, location, hacking nice people. So only if it had all that too.
I have had 2 Disco's and I would never get another one. Poss bad luck but they were just so unreliable (and they weren't old cars either!)
I would recommend a Nissan Navara any day for towing. Mine was like a tank and so reliable. I only sold it to fund a house sale. Possibly too...
hehe ask Figjam about my 15.2 TB mare's speed... we did a team chase/XC together once :D
That absolutely terrifying day aside, yes mine is a speed demon - she is amazing in jump offs as she mostly listens to me also! She can easily hold her own with little ponies.
I'm mixed. I think parts of it are ok and parts of it are utter tosh.
I have done a little of it with our 27yo TB (who has been retired over 10 years now!). It gives her something to do which is nice for her. Though its all about the food reward, thats her only motivation!
I have...
Same here.
We have a 27 yo TB and she definitely prefers being in if the weather is bad or to be honest just in general.
She goes out about 2/3 times a week right now and after being out for an hour just stands looking miserable so we leave her in and she just goes into the indoor...
We have a 27 yo TB. She is doing really well on the following:
Alfa A Oil
Hi-fi cubes (you could replace for spillers slow release energy cubes if needed)
and most importantly - as much haylage as we can get into her :)
ETS - my younger TB who is about 13 now gets about...
sooooo not an expert but if it were me and you cannot spot anything obvious...
I'd eliminate:
vet
physio (for back)
saddler
dentist
and go from there :)
I have 3 stable rugs and they all fit my 15.2 full TB mare really well. She is very fine skinned and none of them have ever rubbed her :)
Lightweight - Weatherbeeta Jasper 100g
Medium Weight - Mark Todd under rug 200g (i love this rug! and i use it on its own despite it...
i should feel bad really that mine are 4 years old, cleaned about erm 4 times in total, worn year round in all weather.. even been to music festivals... and they are still totally fine :p
course now i have said that *facepalms*
My horse is pretty genuine and probably anyone on here could ride her.
I would let anyone have a shot *under supervision* - though I'd like to watch of course as she is a sensitive soul also and well... I am over protective.
People I know well and I trust could ride her anytime :)...
