    Yes, on looking further I saw that you mention lard to the extent of suggesting using it for 25% of the mix. I tried to edit my post but I'd left it too long and it wouldn't let me. I guess I ought to experiment. There seem to be no particular dangers, nothing to worry about, be avoided...

    Why would you say that? Everywhere else I go - and in all the ads everywhere - neatsfoot is supposed to be THE thing for softening, preserving leather.
