    If your horse enjoys a lick I sometimes bribe them with it to get them to drop their head low and enjoy that while I brush (I'm short and he's 16.3hh when he raises his head I don't have a chance)

    When I'm trot-canter for a while my HB is usually 150-155 and this does burn quite a few calories! :)

    Sounds like an awkward person that there's no pleasing! Think most larger livery yards have one - your unlucky in your small one that you've got one poor you!

    I would definitely try the physio first before forking out! All the boys on our yard get physio and they are like different horses afterwards! Give it a try and if all else fails try the expensive vets :)

    I don't think I would ever get a horse who wasn't out almost 24/7. We move the two boys between two fields to try our best to stop them ruining it.

    I always wear joddys usually just cheap black ones with Dublin country boots when I'm not riding and shires boots and chaps when I'm riding. A normal e.g. Nike t -shirt and a jumper over that and another water proof after that dependant on weather. I wish there were boots that were half...

    preferring mares?

    Geldings - every gelding I have had is always better than the mares - but I've always had very 'mareish' mares so maybe it's just been chance. Currently riding a mare and a gelding and his attitude is nicer but she's lovely too! If I was looking to buy I definitely wouldn't count mares...

    I find it quite amusing to read the stupid people - except from in cases like this were a poor horse is suffering when someone isn't smart enough to call the vet :(
