Apologies for not getting to post back sooner. I finished work 11.45pm last night and was up at 5.30 this morning to start all over again.
Thank you so much for your replies and views - and for the tip to look into Mountain Horse overtrousers - you've helped me to make my mind up.
What do people prefer?
I need to get new waterproofs for the winter but don't know what is best to go for: a full length riding coat to keep all of me warm and dry hacking out through the winter or a short jacket and waterproof over trousers or chaps?
Many thanks :)
Hiya Trinity Fox,
I have a very chunky mare - although she's not French she's the same sort of build as an Ardenne (though a little lighter), she is very broad with a chunky neck.
With her conformation the best fit of all the rugs (and I have tried many :() I have tried is the Horseware...
Thank you all ever so much for your responses.
Following all your feedback, I have tried various makes (with help from fellow owners at my yard and our local saddler) and it's really interesting.
I asked for a FAL but was told that they were out of my girl's size and that they wouldn't be...
I have just purchased a 15.2hh heavyweight cob and I need to get rugs for her. The last time I had a horse was in 1995 to I'm rather out of date. Back then I had a fabulous NZ for my warmblood which had an elastic neck, was deep-cut and which had a removable fleecy liner. It was fantastic, never...
I have so enjoyed this thread. I have yard OCD: I can't bear an untidy muck-heap, unswept yards (like a nail on a chalk board, ugh) and couldn't understand why I was the one who got the strange look for washing the bit at the end of my lesson!
Don't get me started on reins not secured with...
It has been so good reading this thread! I too have suffered dreadfully in the past so it has been lovely to find I am not alone - and I have had a good chuckle too!
What has helped me has definitely been thinking more about sitting on my seat bones (I was a percher on a fork, so to speak)...
Thank you ever so much for responding Woeisme - I don't know how you managed to find my question as I couldn't see this thread at all and had to "Search" for it even though I knew it was here!
Nevermind, I'm sure I'll learn
Anyway, thank you again I shall give him a go!
I bought one following an operation to remove a growth on my liver caused, probably, by falling off a pony when I was fourteen and getting kicked as he galloped off for home .
So, I now always wear it, firstly to protect my operation site and secondly because I never want to go through that op...
My first job after graduation was in a different part of the country to my parents so didn't have the option of living with them so what I did was to share a house with 2 others which worked brilliantly as it left me enough money to buy and keep my first horse - and I got company and a social...
Hi I found Jason's adverts on HorseMart and liked a couple of his cobs so did a quick Google seach on his name and this thread came up.
It would seems he does have some happy customers so please could someone say if the issue of the £100 was ever resolved?
Many thanks
