Teething ring for young horses - does it exist?

I have a 2 year old Hanoverian, who is very high energy, and loves to put everything in his mouth, especially my body parts and ponytail. Is there such a thing as a teething ring for youngsters? The dentist saw him a week ago, and said he is teething. I am wondering what I give him to mouth /...

Who's raised, backed & produced their own horse from a yearling?

Thank you! Well that sounds very exciting for you! Sounds like the perfect recipe for your ideal horse - I guess you can't be too picky about gender in this case though or colour (to some extent). Great though that you know the mum and dad, so you have a pretty good idea of what you will get...

Who's raised, backed & produced their own horse from a yearling?

yes, it's great to know them from a young age. You know exactly what they have and haven't done. Training them to pick up feet is still a work in progress though...it's taken months to get them to a point that they'll lift up each foot as I stand by it. It makes you realise why backed 3-4 year...

Who's raised, backed & produced their own horse from a yearling?

Yes, I thought it was time to update it, since it is still relevant...and I went ahead and bought two youngsters since I originally posted it.

Who's raised, backed & produced their own horse from a yearling?

Sorry for the two year delay in responding! I ended up buying 2 warmblood youngsters, a yearling and a 2 year old in Spring of 2018. They are now 2 & 3 years old. The 3 year old was very stallion-y in his behaviour, and I didn't think it was going to work out with him... but he has turned into...

Advice needed: Getting people to shut up when you're there to see your horses?

I arrived yesterday when I knew she wouldn't be there :) Silence is bliss :)) I got a lot done, my horses were focused, made progress, and my migraine (which appeared after the annoying situation on Sunday) slowly drifted away. Lots of great advice here. I need to use some of the techniques and...

Advice needed: Getting people to shut up when you're there to see your horses?

yes, she does it to others. I am in a completely different part of the yard to the rest, and no one has any reason to come into the bit where I keep my horses. But I have to go past the other bit for dumping out wheelbarrows onto the muck heap etc. She stands in her stable mucking out, and...

Advice needed: Getting people to shut up when you're there to see your horses?

I was tending to my young horses - she stood next to me the entire time by my stables, and followed me everywhere I went. Even when I kept saying, "I need to pay attention to them, so I am not listening to you, as I don't want to get kicked in the head"...she didn't back off or shut up.

Advice needed: Getting people to shut up when you're there to see your horses?

well, it was on my mind, and it would definitely solve the problem with her. The trouble is, the others do it as well. People just OCD talk about themselves. I asked a woman if her horse could have an apple - (I had a bag of apples) - the answer went on for half an hour, I had to stand there...

Advice needed: Getting people to shut up when you're there to see your horses?

Anyone have any tips on how to get people to shut up, when you are there to spend quality time with your horses? I (and all of us) invest a lot of time and energy into our horses, and we make many sacrifices to have them. I find when I am at the yard, selfish OCD nonstop talkers continually get...

GOOD FARRIER NEEDED IN ASH GREEN.

Avoid farrier Simon Wright like the plague. He is unprofessional, unreliable and abusive. Someone recommended him to me for my new young competition horses - I made an appointment with him - he said he'd be there at 3pm-ish. At about 1pm, I sent a message to ask to confirm his time of arrival...

My boy has hind proximal suspensory injury - advise/experiences

I went through this with my 4 year old warmblood. The vets had recommended to PTS which i absolutely could not bear to do without first trying everything possible. I used this guy Roger Meacock - http://www.naturalhealingsolutions.co.uk/about/proximal-suspensory-desmitis And put the horse...

Stuck between 2 horses, help? suggestions?

I would advertise for a sharer to help with the costs at the new yard. Maybe even for both horses. This is a better option than selling one, if you're attached to both.

Funny things non horsey people say

Excellent! It's not a bad idea actually! ;) Although your hubby might have a wee problem with it. There's always the usual, of "how will you get a new horse to the UK from Europe? Will you ride it over?"

Who's raised, backed & produced their own horse from a yearling?

Thanks everyone who has contributed so far. You're giving me lots to think about. A couple of months ago I wouldn't have considered a yearling, but my good friend has been really pushing for it, since she's on her second one (the first died suddenly at 6 yrs old with cancer), she's been wearing...
