    Mare grading.

Cundlegreen, to date I have never been asked if my mares are graded! Some have very good performance records to back them - one of which jumped on the national circuit competiting up to 1.50 and I did take her for grading - she had no parantage on the dam line and SHB(GB) only graded her onto...

    thoughts on stallion

Sir Shutterfly is not standing at stud in ireland anymore - think he was a disappointment - I for one have a youngster by him out of a superb show mare who has had perfect foals before but the filly has a very bad parrot mouth. It will not effect her ability to jump but does rather kill the...

    TB event stallion recommendations?

Kings Composer is fit and well now enjoying his time out in the field although I am sure he would prefer it if the rain would stop for a while - since being retired from ridden work he has always been turned out each winter. He is now an older boy but still full of the joys of spring all year...

    Stallions and turn out

We have electric fencing with stallions out at night. It double fenced with a 6' gap and the inner fencing is independant to the outer fencing so if we get a short both lines never go down. We find this works great with shy/maiden mares as the boys chat them up and the mares are then more...

How much milk would a mare produce...

This year we had an orphan. Sire 17hh warmblood, mare 16.2 ISH. For the first two weeks fed on Baileys milk replacer. They provide a guide for how much to feed based on size of mare and how many weeks of age the foal. There advice line is a great source of information as was my local farmer...

    No BEF

A fine false one. Too heavy and you will have difficulty in attaching it well. I had one on a show brood mare once which I had attached in a rush and yes, standing up receiving the rosette, it flu right off with a good swish of the tail, and she only had to walk and trot inhand.

    Olympics stats...

Thank you for doing this as it makes such interesting reading. What a shame though that the commentators dont do more to help british breeders when they have the opportunity and also acknowledge british owners who without their support the sport would struggle. Although the lesser teams...

    BEF Futurity

CISS my ungraded chap is 12th overall on the stallion list with 4 progeny assessed - you must have overlooked him when scanning the results to back up your opinion, and thats 4 individual offspring, not the same one being seen 4 years. The mares are also all different and all ungraded - 1 is a...
