Mmmm love the idea, but I would much prefer to go with a friend, have you got one with a horse and you could go together?
Two weeks is quite a long time, I would maybe try one week first, you could always go away without her the second week.
Have you someone near with a trailer/lorry so you...
I use Damian Williams from Fleckney, had him for over 10 years he is brilliant, quick but excellent, always on time ( in fact usually early!! )not sure he covers Tilton, phone no 07989629123
I have space for one, I'm near Market Harborough, about 3 miles from Rothwell. Private home, no school, but all year turnout and nice hacking, they do live out as much as possible :) transport too for pleasure rides.
There is Darwen by the A14 I have a friend there but limited turn out in winter
I have space for one horse/pony under 15.1hh; DIY or Part, no school but nice hacking and plenty of turnout with my three.
Transport shared for pleasure rides!
I disagree!! I have two geldings and a mare, they get on brilliantly, she is the boss though. Plus I don;t find it that much harder than two. If you have the land and can be kept out most of the time its a doddle! Poo picking = about 45 mins a day, feeding = a few minutes! The rest of the...
The sugar content of Happy Hoof is 5% the starch content 4% so less than 10% combined, so according to xgemmax, you'd be fine to feed it.
Its not full of sugar, it has some in it!
Hi Fi Molasses free is 2.5% sugar, 1.5% starch, so yes this is better
I keep 3 ponies living out on 5.5 acres so you should be able to manage 5 horses on 9 acres
I prefer to have as much land as possible saved for the winter, I don't use any hay
My little JR waa attacked by a lurcher :( I tried to get him off, in the end I had to kick the dog off him ) He hates other dogs so he's always on a lead
He ended up at the vets with a hole in his side :(
The lady with the lurcher thought it was funny...........well she did until she got my...
I've stopped feeding them now, but when I did I soaked them for at least 12 hours, they expand a lot!! would never give them dry, the're quite chunky
SS Lucie nuts I presume? they take ages to soak!
You'd be better off having the natives off the grass during spring/summer/autumn then turning on the whole lot over winter;
My three natives have 5 acres in the winter, never get fat ( underugged if any at all ) they move around so much and run/play a lot.
Exercise is key to a healthy weight
