    'Spare' saddle recommendations

I have found Thorowgood to be brilliant; very comfy and versatile, nearly indestructible and quite reasonably priced. You could find one on Ebay, but they are fairly cheap to buy new, so might'nt be worth it. I had a T4 GP, which I ended up selling to my YO, and now she loves it too.

Advice on spooky warmblood at indoor arenas

Agreed - it's a long term thing. My fella thinks white poles are the devil's own instruments, but he's gotten OK with them as we have one in our schooling session every time.

    Natural Horsemanship

Welcome to the boards - I'm an ex-American :p who moved to Ireland not quite ten years ago. Parelli's reputation is shaky here, and the term 'natural horsemanship' is seen as being a bit loaded, IME. Lots of people are familiar with western disciplines, and are interested in people like...

Great Livery Yards - post about yours?

Proper order, Batgirl - aren't they all priceless to those who love them, whether GP dressage horses or beloved aged ponies? Good for your YOs, and good riddance to divas who think that all horses don't feel the same pain, hunger or want. Horses have no idea about their relative market prices...

Great Livery Yards - post about yours?

Becca 84's post about being nervous because she'd booked into a livery yard and had heard so many horror stories has got me thinking. As many who post here are looking for help and advice, there are naturally lots of stories about bad experiences floating around. But how about the good ones...

    Are anyone elses' fields sodden?

Are anyone's fields NOT sodden might be a better question at this point!! :D:D:D And the arena...... let's just say my normal Sunday dressage lesson looks a bit doubtful at this stage, lol.

Non horse people....and the funny things they say (cont...)!

I recently had a colleague accuse me of being 'posh' because I own a horse - I gently pointed out that his two children likely cost him waaaaaay more than my horse costs me! :p

How long did it take have a consistent/correct outline in your horse (no gadgets)?

It seems to me that five is still very young - her skeleton and muscles are still developing, so patience, patience. I've had my IDx for three years, and have brought him back into work after him having a broken hip (wasn't mine at the time, took him on loan to see if I could bring him back into...

Really nervous now - just booked horse onto livery yard for the first time!!

I love my livery yard - even I could have him at home I don't think I would. The people and horses are lovely, he gets the best of care and pasture pals, everyone is experienced and the YO really cares about your progress and goals as a rider. She establishes a calm, friendly atmosphere, and is...

Is everyone managing to ride in this weather?

Managed a brilliant hack today as the weather cleared a bit, and before it starts again this weekend. Arena is soupy and fields sodden, so hacking keeps us ticking over until we can add in the schooling again. Haven't ridden since Monday, as I call time when it comes to gale force winds, which...
