Livery - how much do you pay?

The yard my RDA group operates out of (combined RS/livery) charges £544 pcm for what appears to be basically full livery (i'm looking at their website, I don't have my own horse). Yard has 2 indoor schools, 3 outdoor, XC jumps, horse walker, all year round post and railed turnout and lots of...

Rehab- am I expecting too much?

She's a nice looking horse and best of luck with her - she's very lucky to have you. I am in no way expert but I wonder about adding some oats to her feed? That would give her some energy and I think they are also high in protein. However this may be an extremely bad idea so please don't do it...

    Helppppp - storage nightmare

How much stuff is actually essential - stuff that you need on a daily basis. I think the solution here, at leats in part, is to be ruthless in paring down what you leave at the yard to genuine essentials - first aid kit, everyday grooming tools, headcollar, boots the horse is ridden in, rugs...

    Horses with "human" names

My Mum also believes that animals should have human names. She wanted to change the name of one of our rescue cats because she thought Simba was a stupid name - and it is in his case, he's a right wimp! She didn't like Sammy much either so he mostly gets called Sam.

Ouch. Possibly most ridiculous horse related injury ever.

Well the first aid course is now over and I can report that I am sufferring from: a sore knee (from CPR), sore stomach muscles (from laughing my head off for three days, it was a good course), a bruised thigh (experimenting with dummy epi pens to find out how hard you have to plunge them infor...

Ouch. Possibly most ridiculous horse related injury ever.

Good skills everyone. Did the vet treat you as well as your horse OP? Not directly horse related but I decided to have a bath when I got home from the yard a few weeks ago. I decided to scoot forwards in the bath to add some more water. Top half of me moved, bottom half didn't. So I sprained my...

    returning to horses

Do you have an RDA center near you? You could get a horsey fix helping there without necessarily having much responsibility/having to be there at particular times.

Should BE tag body protectors after inquest?

I agree with Philamena that it is illogical to tag hats but not BPs when both are compulsory. But I think Nicnac is right and it wouldn't be easy to check given that BPs are often covered by other bits of kit. I also agree with her that a piece of kit being tagged doesn't mean it's in full...

    Badminton XC dream rides

Definitely not Andrew Hoy's horse. I like King Eider and Jiff but my vote goes to Sarah Stretton's horse Skip On. He always looks like a fun ride.

Badminton Grassroots - what an experience!

Well done to all of you, including Chris. Really enjoyable report to, though I hope Monty won't get too ambitious after seeing the 4* course.
