showing dispare!! cant be bothered any more.

The skill in Showing I suppose is to try your best to MAKE the judge like your horse. But of course sometimes they won't and there's nothing you can do. I have gone Champion one week then literally the week after come last with the same horse doing the same performance. That's the thrill of it...

Totally disheartened - sharing success stories anyone?

Ah don't tar them all with the same brush ;) I have one who is a cob's attitude in a TB skin!

clicking and clucking and talking, oh my!

In the show ring I "hiss" between my teeth at my horse when I ask him to gallop on. It's that quiet no one can hear but him, and he knows exactly what it means! Aside from that I avoid voice commands as I wouldn't use them in the show ring, so why use them at home? I also hate clicking!!

showing dispare!! cant be bothered any more.

I would just say that is just showing. Generally the higher the level the better/fairer the judging. I consistently do better at County and Agricultural shows than I do at Local/RC to the point where I don't even bother going to them anymore. It's a shame because local level/RC class numbers...

Help With Saddle For Showing Please?

Havana only is correct for Showing. A straight cut saddle is preferred as it shows off the shoulder but in RoR you can get away with a GP. Havana though - tan would never show your horse off and presents an untidy picture. Good luck with him :)

    Saddle fitter recommendations please!

Sarah Steel is fantastic. One of the few Saddlers who will come out to fit a saddle that she hasn't sold you - knowledgable, helpful and honest. Can't recommend her enough, she checked both my boys saddles and all that needed doing was a bit of stuffing in one and none to the other. It's...

Heat in heel bulb and lame pony

He's sound in walk and I've kept him in today. Not trotted him up - I will tomorrow. It just seems warm round the hollow and bulb of heel and the hoof itself is ever so slightly warmer than the other too.

Heat in heel bulb and lame pony

Thanks :) tonight I've soaked it in warm water and salts to try and bring out an abcess if there is one but it seems like the heat is a bit lower down now.

Heat in heel bulb and lame pony

Brought my boy in last night sound in walk, lame in trot. Not massively, I only noticed as I was lungeing him. Last night had a tiny bit of heat back of pastern, this morning none in pastern just the bulb of heel. Not red hot but imediately noticable. He's never had an abcess but guessing...

    Alternative to Pelham

A hanging cheek snaffle might be worth a try. It's a snaffle and Dressage legal but you have that bit of poll pressure there which she will be used to if you've used a pelham :)

Kavalkade Safety BA Boots - anyone know where can I get some?

Thank you for looking! I've searched everywhere. It looks like the eBay ones have ended but I have sent a message asking! I don't think Kalvakade make them anymore as they are not available on their website so I don't think anyone will get any stock in. They look like they would do the...
