The neck was huge, he's about 600kg and all shoulder & neck, very heavy set. it also reached his knees bless him :-) to give an idea rhinegold a in the same size won't even do up on the largest setting
Just a little heads up I bought a amigo xl hero rug and it is utterly massive! It swamped my heavy weight cob and would have fitted the next size down so worth keeping the receipt to exchange just in case. Beautiful rug though!!
I swear by Amigo Mio rugs for my big shouldered boy. They wash well and are not massively expensive as the lower end of the Amigo range. Just finished 1 winter with them and they held up fine. They also don't seem to slip about on him which I found some rugs a nightmare for
Sorry if I repeat anyone as I've not read all the replies
Very very small baby steps were the key to me. I set a goal each day that was achievable. Tell the people on your yard so that they are aware and they can help you then if they know there is a problem.
I've lost confidence more times...
Blimey the mind boggles at the court one!!!! I might see if our yard owner will come out for a ride and hope we see her; she has a very good instructor voice - certainly makes me sit up straight that's for sure!! - even my best puffy voice is laughable - well my horse thinks so!
Thank you everyone, pretty much what I had guessed then :-(
She has previously trotted past us from behind, luckily heading away from home so my boy didn't try to chase after her as it meant working harder but I dread the day it happens heading in direction of home! He's older but very low...
Is there a general etiquette when passing other horses on single lane country roads or bridlepaths?
We saw a rider at the weekend coming from the opposite direction, she went past at a fast trot on a tight bit of road and didn't acknowledge us at all. My horse had a moment and tried to turn...
Did you find they loosened up over time? Agree with 9tails in the way they sit - at least there won't be an uncomfortable wedgie issue
Admittedly I bought them online thinking the seat was normal jod material and the rest was denim which I thought would be better than full denim :-) .
Really didn't like the feeling of being stuck to the saddle. Ah well , glad it's not just me being weird and that felt they are strange :-)
Got a pair of suede seat jods and tried them out yesterday. Was the oddest feeling, felt like I was stuck to the saddle and didn't like it at all. Does anyone else think this or is it just me lol!
I've got one of their cob xw GP leather ones. Bought it December-ish last year. Found it really comfortable. It cleans up well although the hair getting on the Velcro knee blocks is driving me a little bit insane. Not sure how they wear long term but pleased so far. Comfortable to hack for a...
A couple of years ago I regularly rode a mare with a friend on a stallion. There was never an issue. After the first hack where they were both slightly more excited than usual (plodding 0.2mph faster than normal speed plod); they got used to each other and we went everywhere with no problems.
I've had an arthritic share horse who had blocks and after the initial walk phase after being turned away was sound to hack and very basic schooling. She was fine to walk / trot / canter on hacks on good ground and I did in hand showing classes with her along with veteran ridden classes. She has...
