Myler Low Port Comfort Snaffle v Bombers Happy Tongue

He's 6. Tushes are fully through, hasn't had any wolf teeth removed but vet didn't think it necessary so I don't think teeth are the issue. Although possibly may have been an issue in the past which may be part of the problem...

Myler Low Port Comfort Snaffle v Bombers Happy Tongue

Thanks all! He's going to a pro yard for a few weeks while I'm on holiday so they should hopefully be able to try a few different bits with him and see if anything works. Failing that I'll order the Myler and the Bomber from the bit bank when I get back

Myler Low Port Comfort Snaffle v Bombers Happy Tongue

My very green horse is currently not a big fan of bits - as soon as I put the bridle on he just tenses up/goes quiet and stops munching his hay. He's only lunging at the moment (due to start ridden work next week) and I'd really like him to be more settled in his mouth. He has been ridden...

    Bridle v Lunging Cavesson

Personally I dislike lunging with the lunge line attached to the bit - it doesn't activate the bit correctly and I think has too much potential to damage the horse's mouth. I just lunge off a headcollar, if I'm using a chambon I put the bridle on first and attach chambon to the bit/bridle and...

Weekend Roundup - Jump Training & Mechanical Horses

Sounds like a very productive weekend - I love lessons where something clicks and you see the improvement immediately, sounds like you had that with your jumping. I have a terrible habit of dropping horses in front of a fence so I know how hard it is not to! The mechanical horse sounds very...

Constructive Feedback for Dressage Tests Wanted

I'm afraid I'd have to agree he looks unsound. I clicked into another one of you videos, I think it was intro b, which was on a sand surface and I'm afraid to say he also looked unsound in that so I don't think the ground is the issue unfortunately. That aside, I agree with the advice on...

Introducing my little yellow horse (be warned, it's long!)

Wow, your boy is fab Silv! What is his breeding? Mine has no breeding recorded, he's out of a TB mare, meant to be by a cremello WB stallion called Crowns Ace of Pearl but I'm not entirely convinced, I'm sure I can see Connemara in there somewhere! :D Here's the rest of him - not a great photo...

How much can the canter be improved and how to do it.

Pole work, especially over raised poles should help get more lift in the canter. And lots of walk-canter and canter-walk transitions to get his hind end under him. Rein back is also very useful for strengthening the back end and getting them to sit more behind :)

    Competition report

Well done!!! He looks like a lovely little pony and fair play for getting out competing so soon after getting back in the saddle!

Introducing my little yellow horse (be warned, it's long!)

Haha, yes I have a six year old, a four year old and a (nearly) two year old! I only went back to work earlier this year (stopped when second baby arrived) so it's a bit of a shock to the system! :D Horse is living out and hopefully will continue to do so to eliminate mucking out etc!

Introducing my little yellow horse (be warned, it's long!)

Thanks! I've seen the wobbleberry thing and think it's a fab idea but I'm in Ireland so not sure if there are any wobbleberry training things over here - will def have to look into it! :)

Introducing my little yellow horse (be warned, it's long!)

Thanks everyone! I think he's fab (and obviously I'm not biased at all!) :D So excited to finally get started with him - it'll be next year before we attempt any eventing but hoping to get him out to loads of clinics, sj, dressage and a few hunter trials over the winter :)
