Clipping phobia but only when the hair is actually being cut

By the time I had got him back to the being rubbed all over with the clippers and chilled about it the vets had closed tonight - but yes I have it on my "To-do" list to have a chat with them tomorrow as I would rather we both survived the experience unscathed and continue with any...

Claustrophobic horse - next steps for travelling?

Yes she will be tied up but if she went into a spin no amount of bailer twine will stop her and with no partition surely the temptation to try and turn around and jump out the back would be too strong? We loaded again tonight but went back to basics all open and then went back to front bar up...

Claustrophobic horse - next steps for travelling?

She is a funny girl as yes she shakes for a few moments then stops to eat, but yes I do think I tried to push her beyond her comfort zone as I was hoping to try and take her on a small outing tomorrow. Luckily her panic was just stamping and no rearing or kicking but yes if it had been possible...

Claustrophobic horse - next steps for travelling?

Hello, What a wonderfully reassuring thread as I have had this very issue with my little mare today. My question is concerning shuttung the rear ramp and top door. I have had single breast and breach bars made so she can travel with as much room as possible. We got as far as loading her with...

    Horrible winter hands!

Sorry to drag up an old thread but does anyone have any recommendations for ways to deodorize hands? I use gloves as much as possible but my hands have a distinct horse urine niff that I cannot seem to shift. I scrub and rinse in lemon juice but wondered what other do ?

Safe horse toys for a bored pony.....

So after watching the New Forrest dissapear into a hedge then pop down a sheer 7 or 8 ft bank we have decided he is bored. He is in a field full of grass so gained nothing other than entertainment in the form of me rushing out the house half in my pj's shouting " you little sod " he was...

    Turnout - How Many Hours?

We are on awful heavy clay so mine are only out until lunchtime and the rest of the time on a track and / or in their corrals . So it can be as little as 3 or 4 hours a day if I have ridden . They are quite content with that arrangement and don't explode when turned out and bring themselves in...

What would a replacement van cost ish ? And also as the horse box is a good size could I get a bigger van so therefore have a better payload ? I don't need to be restricted to a 3.5 as I am ancient ;) Also how long would it take to swap over and would it be an expensive job ? I do like your...

    Bedford CF 350 - Have / do / would you ????

Thank you so much for the replies and very useful link - hugely appreciated :) looks like it may well be worth perusing further and at least getting a mechanics view as to what is needed to pass a plating . The payload info is very interesting and at least I could carry one horse or two ponies...
