I rode right until the end but I've owned my boy a long time so know him inside out ! My waters broke at 33 weeks and had to stay in hospital I got let home one day a week as I was extremely frustrated midwife and doctor told me to ride might start me off , at 35 weeks went for a ride in the...
I would never ask a sharer to pay for tack I would have walked away then , your lucky she is still interested !
My family and my horses go hand in hand , maybe she wanted moral support when she brought her troop with her .
As someone earlier said how can you not trust her with your tack but...
I feel you pain I've been there fortunately mine isnt a rearer , he is a spin round shove you out the way and do a runner type !
I always use a bridle for situations like this , have you tried that see if it keeps him on the ground ?
Thanks for that lol ! I really don't mind what height he becomes as long as he makes 16.2hh plus I am fine with that.
Height isn't an issue as long as they have a good attitude and I'm sure he will, he gets handled daily and will do when I get him at weaning
:):)
That's good to know , I'm just a bit concerned I will need a step ladder , oxygen mask and parachute being that high up lol !
I'm 5'7" and ride my sisters 17hh warmblood aswell so not too concerned about him making 17.1hh .
It's amazing how these old wives tales have good accuracy !
Do you know the pony she wants to buy ? If you know the owner or are aware who they are maybe speak to them about the conditions she is planning on keeping the pony in that would stop me selling that's for sure ! If not just be really frank with her and tell her she is an eejit , has no clue...
You measure from the knee to coronet band then measure the string , whatever it is in inches works out in hands , I had heard 3 months was the best time to do it ?
I bought a colt basically at birth I phoned his breeder a friend of mine if she minded doing the string test now he is 3 months old to get an estimate of his mature height !
Well when he was born he did get a bit stuck and vet had come out to help he mentioned it was one of the biggest...
My boy is borderline cushings and laminitis can go hand in hand with that , I've not got him on meds yet His levels don't require it yet . I have however changed his diet to prevent laminitis , he is in top spec fibre plus has same nutrition as the pasture mix he was on without the sugars or...
Is his bed down when he is in as mine will pull his bed down to pee as doesn't like splasback but who can blame him !
I had him tested for cushings this year on the free test as was just slightly hairier than normal and has come back borderline , even though it was free you still have to pay...
Mine is borderline cushings and not on medication yet ! I'm going to have to possibly clip soon because his winter coat has started to grow back after having a beautiful summer coat for about 3 weeks :(
Problem I have us he is an old man 34 I don't want him getting cold at night as doesn't...
Don't beat yourself up you didn't know , we all only learn from experience be it our own or others , as long as the vet knows what's going on and you keep it good and clean hopefully everything will work out fine for you both x
This happened to a horse at our yard , who nearly lost her life because of this , always remember the advise of the vet to leave it in until they get there , hope everything turns out ok
I bought a factor 50 spray on one , I hang onto his headcollar and spray like mad , he then runs of snorting and sneezing and trying to rub it off , he is 24 and never got any better , as long as you get it on once a day it should be enough !
