I have an 18yr old appaloosa who is fit as a fiddle and jumps for fun, in fact I would say he is fitter and more forward going than my 8yr old!! 'Old' depends entirely on fitness levels! A 25yr old horse at the riding school I work at went xc last year and blew the competition out of the water...

So put into practice the shortening of the stirrups today, riding a more forward horse. Worked a treat, no lower leg swing, but now my instructor keeps shouting 'heels down' win some lose some hahaha

Could you tell me what is wrong with her conformation? Her family tree are all excellent quality section d cobs, with brilliant conformation. As stated before she is not up to weight/muscle etc, so looks like she has a long thin neck and no topline etc.

Thanks for some of the advice guys. The horse I jump tends to back off the fence and I find I'm constantly having to push him on hard and my legs swing back. My instructor says when I ride a more forward to the fence horse, that my legs don't do this so much, only slightly. Just concerned that...

I have a 14.2hh Welsh cob mare, hoping eventually to breed from her to get something a little bigger (as I am 5ft 10) but have no idea what size stallion is suitable. I don't want to cause her any issues with birthing etc. But was looking at about 15.3hh/16hh stallion. Is this too big? Any help...
