    New horse! With photos

Aside from the white, he's absolutely identical to my horse in a lifetime! He was out of a Connemara buckskin, TB sire. Made 16h. Nothing useful to add really, other than I'd have snapped yours up in a heartbeat. Have fun!

Male cat spraying out of spite - HELP!

This sounds like the behaviour one of our chaps exhibited when he was around 14yo. Absolutely no change in his cat-mosphere although we wracked our brains trying to think what might have changed that could have triggered such a change. He just suddenly took to shouting and spraying indoors. He...

Long time no see!!!! An update and some pictures!!

Ah, thank you Milliepops - really appreciate that, especially as with hindsight it was probably an incredibly dense question to ask on a competition forum! (For anyone worried, no equine will be subjected to my ineptitude in the near future - I just seemed to spend a lot of time wandering around...

Long time no see!!!! An update and some pictures!!

Genuine question as I haven't been able to ride for a long while and aren't up to date, but I was always taught that spurs should be pointed downwards and not upwards. I don't want to derail the thread (and seriously gorgeous horses by the way!) but could any kind folk bring me up to speed on this?

Stable name for new TB - inspire me!

How about Malbec (gets your 'red' reference in with a red wine), and can be shortened to 'Albie' as a stable name if you like people names ...

    Is it possible?

Ha, thanks East Kent - I live with a bloke though, so I'm already accustomed to big muddy footprints, dirt, breakages and general chaos! If I could keep the dog indoors and pop Bloke in an outdoor kennel I'm sure I could reduce housework by 50%! He did get a little misty-eyed at the thought...

    Is it possible?

Huge thanks to everyone for some great advice and options. It's really appreciated. No doubt I'll be back here with a million questions when the opportunity to get our own fella finally arrives!

    Is it possible?

Oh cack - I'd typed out an epic reply covering everything and it's suddenly disappeared! Anyway, the precis version is: 2Greys - thanks, greyhounds sound like they might be happy if we also factored in the lunchtime dog-walker (I certainly couldn't go 8hrs straight without a 'visit' - can't...

    Is it possible?

Thanks BC and CC - I think that's decided things for us. We're still talking a few years in the future, but when the opportunity comes then it's great to know we needn't automatically assume that a full-time job rules out dog ownership completely - just it will need us to consider our choice...

    Is it possible?

*Suddenly understands why 3DEs always seem to have a contingent of RR owners on constant course-walk from dawn 'til dusk* Thanks all for the useful advice everyone. So ... dog + full-time job = do-able with commitment, lunchtime dog-walker and complete abandoment of ambitious but rubbish...

    Is it possible?

That's why I'm asking though - I thought it was a complete no-no and had resigned myself to a dog-free life until either retirement or working part-time could be an option. Just having made that decision and then seeing colleagues leap in with no apparent problems made me wonder if I was being...

    Is it possible?

Thanks BooBoos - that's really helpful. Although OH grew up with a dog, we'd both be very much first-time owners so the heads-up on our breed choice perhaps not being the greatest for novices is much appreciated. Good intentions and book-reading don't always make up for experience. It's great to...

    Is it possible?

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I just want a sanity check ... OH and I both work full-time office hours, both really REALLY want dogs. Always have. OH still pines for the GSD he grew up with. Ideally we'd have two Siberian huskies (one each to work with), but more likely to be...

A very different kind of RAWRRR!!

*Splurts half-chewed Reversy-Percy over screen* Classic. Potty-mouthed Philip Schofield. And now, to keep you occupied in your 'we insist you rest' enforced bed-ness - you can watch 'Cash in the Bargain Attic in the Sun Car Booty Challenge Real Deal' and let us all know how many times the same...
