    Bridle search help, please?

I have a horsemanship saddlery bridle it’s anatomical and beautiful Italian leather so would recommend based on quality, but mine is black I have never seen the brown in person. The owner is very helpful I’m sure if you email them she can send you a pic of the brown leather they use.

    Hi Viz with camera warning

Just to add I wore this with a chest harness but had it up and to the side near my armpit rather than directly in the middle of my chest.

    red horse products - help!

I have been using horse leads version of sole paint this year and have to say it’s really good, frogs stay quite hard and dry even though he’s out in the mud all day and it’s very quick and easy to apply (paint on with a brush which is provided). I use it a couple of times a week in the evening...

    Mixing straw pellets and shavings

I use pellets under shavings, horse is quite wet and in overnight for winter and I use 1 bag of pellets and 1 bag of shavings a week. The trick is to use larger flake shavings so they don’t soak up the wet and to keep a thick bed. It does mean I have to sift through for poos though 😂

    Best Lister Clippers?

I have the same issue with stars unfortunately which is a shame as otherwise they clip well.

    Canter? No, GALLOP.

The technique I usually use when cobs bog off with me is - kick them on, that usually makes them go ‘what? No I think I’ll slow down thanks’ don’t let them push on a bit more (doesn’t have to be miles!) once you are happy you want to slow down ask for walk and walk back to the exact point they...

Has anyone tried 'naturally' weaning foals?

I don't recall the filly being particularly bothered if mum was there or not, although as I say when younger she would have a little 'comfort suckle' say for example if they had just been turned out after being in stable all day, but this stopped by the time she was about 18 months. The gelding...

Has anyone tried 'naturally' weaning foals?

I don't think our filly was taking much in the way of milk as she got older, once she was about 9 months it was more of a comfort thing. Both mare and filly were very well and were good doers anyway, if mare was struggling we would have had to find a way to separate. We had another surprise foal...

Has anyone tried 'naturally' weaning foals?

Yes, I had a surprise foal and no facilities to separate. The filly stopped going the milk bar at about 18 months. Mare was back in work when filly was about 6 months and they were in separate stables but turned out together (in a small herd). Did neither of them any harm and was pretty stress...

    Feeding lactating mare

Another recommendation for suregrow, if it was me I’d try it mixed with soaked grass nuts and possibly a glug of oil (I just use plain old sunflower oil although appreciate there may be better oils out there). I’d be careful with alfalfa, as Cortez says you will need to ensure calcium phosphorus...

Bereavement counselling to help with loss of animal

I’m so sorry for your loss. I too lost my dog recently (6 months ago) and it’s been as hard as losing a person, I miss her so much. I wish I’d had the courage to call the blue cross but I didn’t, I’ve managed and it’s easier to deal with now although I still occasionally burst into tears and I...

    Liverpool

There's a rescue place called Shy Lowen in Bootle, they also do kids lessons, fun days, equine therapy etc, so they may be looking for volunteers and should be accessible by public transport

Teaching children to ride in other countries

My experience of teaching Italian children is they are wrapped up in cotton wool, then bubble wrap, with an extra dash of cotton wool just to make sure ? The parents would scream if the kids went into trot ?? but same parents would want to jump on the ex racer, no hat, no experience and gallop...
