I have just checked her vulva and it is swollen and there was a bit of blood on the kitchen towel I used. Definitely no more beach walks or off lead time, we do not want any puppies. I've marked it on the calendar for 3 weeks from today just to be on the safe side. Thanks all.
Hi everyone, I did not bother updating my last thread re the part trained dog as he sold the day before we were due to see him. Anyway we are now the owners of a 10 month old yellow female lab and she has been with us for a week. According to the breeder she had her first season at 7 months...
ihatework, I'm sorry to hear about your girl, I suppose it is all a bit of a lottery.
Thanks for all the traffic tips. I am hoping that as he is a lab he will be fairly confident in himself and we can build on that. I will report back on Monday. Have a good weekend everyone!
He is a chocolate lab, part trained gun dog. The guy who is selling him is downsizing the number of dogs he has due to financial constraints.
I have another question if that's OK? He has been living in the middle of nowhere and has had no exposure to traffic. We also live rurally but the...
I never thought to ask about being clean in the kennel. That's also interesting about the type of surface they are used to going on, it makes sense really!
Thanks both for your swift replies.
I lost my beloved dog a few weeks ago and as I'm sure many of you will understand, it has been awful. Anyway we decided not to get a pup and would prefer an older dog that we can crack on with walks straight away. We've found a dog which is 20 months old (part trained lab) but he has been...
Oh God, that's made me a bit teary! He's the spitting image of my old boy who I lost in March, I'd have him in a heartbeat as a companion for my other two but I'm in Cornwall. Everything crossed he gets a lovely new home.
The vet is coming out tomorrow to take a urine sample from my boy and I was wondering what the approx cost would be for the urinalysis and do the vets usually perform it in house or would it be sent out to a lab? Would appreciate any replies.
I applied Deosect to my horse last Monday and all the lice seem to have gone. However he is still scratching and biting every day and making a mess of his mane, bum etc. I just wanted to know if they continue to be uncomfortable even when the lice are dead and how long would this go on for...
I found my last boy by putting up a wanted ad on local Facebook groups, so that might be worth a try. Wishing you lots of luck, I loathe horse shopping with a passion!
When I retired my old boy, I bought a mare that I thought would be suitable for a middle aged happy hacker like me. Sadly it was a disaster and the experience has left my confidence in tatters. I tried to make it work for 18 months but it was just a miserable time and in the end I had to throw...
