Problems with a new Ifor Williams trailer

I have a 510 and it is water-tight, the roof vent opens and closes. I think you should get yours checked out. The rear wheels do lock if the trailer has been left unused for a while but a couple of moves forwards and back soon sort it. I didn't know the trick of drawing forwards after...

    "Alternative" therapies for melanomas

Cimetidine is one option you might consider, it is thought that it can help slow down the growth rate of the melanomas.

Does anyone buy horse medication online?

My horse is on long term medication which I had been buying from the vets every 2 months or so. I saw an advertisement for online meds and phoned them to see what it would cost to buy from them (with prescription). It was about £85 cheaper so I spoke to my vet and said what I had...

Are you or have you ever been a BHS member? Why – or why not?

That's my (and my daughter's) reasons and also for the Trec activities, although those in Scotland are not near us sadly.

Pedal osteitis not cured after surgery. It is time to PTS?

I am really sorry to read about your mare. My horse was diagnosed with pedal osteitis which was revealed by bone scintigraphy (sp?). He'd had 3 completely different injuries to the same hoof over three years and the pedal osteitis was the cumulative outcome. During all 3 injuries I had...

    Astrology for Horses

I read the piece expecting to have a good laugh but its spot on for Aries (my horse) he loves to go first and has had two bits of surgery on his face, one leaving a bony ridge.

"Shake up for C4 Racing's presenting team"

I will miss Alistair Down, Tommo and Mike Cat. Alistair Down for his wonderful summings up of the day at Cheltenham, Tommo for his great enthusiasm and Mike Cat because he's quite handsome and also knowledgeable. I would much prefer one of them kept on rather than Emma Spencer, a pity it...

HELP..hi-vis related before I knock someone out

That's good you've got the link, I'm a big believer in hi-viz and always wear it on horseback summer and winter. I will show the link to my son who doesn't seem to think that its necessary/cool on his bike. Although I have been adding bits of hi-vis to his bike hoping he won't notice.

Horse has become impossible to hack

I've been told that this can be a sign of gastric ulcers, can you get that checked out and his teeth checked to eliminate that too?

Absess caused infection in the pedal bone

Mine had something similar, I hot tubbed it daily with epsom salts and gave him something to do while he was tied up outside - a haynet, a lick or a boredom breaker toy. I didn't have a poultice boot but it sounds like a good idea if he's tricky to poultice. I prepared everything I needed...

    Controversial topic

Mine is hot shod on all four, he is not bothered at all about the process. He is very relaxed about it all.

    Oscar Pistorius.

Yes he is very handsome. I'm glad he brought up the blade length question after he came 2nd in the 200m. It was obviously a huge thing on his mind and I'm still not clear on the ruling that if he ran the 400m in the Olympics on those blades why did that mean that he had to run in the...
