    Unaffiliated Elementary Dressage - Questions!!

If its unaffiliated then the organisers don't have to follow British Dressage rules, but most of them will adhere to the rules to the most part. The current rule book can be found on the BD website here http://www.britishdressage.co.uk/rules. Rule changes come into effect on 1st December...

Do you feel your flatwork position is "correct"?

I've ticked (a) but not sure I'd describe myself as perfect! I do work very hard to keep balanced and central and now have enough body awareness to feel when a crookedness is creeping in and know exercises to correct it (off horse generally) so issues are sorted out quickly.

Pros and cons of a child sharing a pony ?

I've got a dartmoor who is now 26 and over the years has had many little riders on the same deal - no money changing hands but committing to a lesson a week. A small handful have been great kids, nice parents and worked well and I'm still friends with now they are all grown up. The vast...

Dream horse turned nightmare... help me!

In that case send him back to the dealer, sorry to be blunt but you aren't experienced enough to overcome normal young horse issues and the yard aren't backing you up. You will find a much more sensible, older, been there done it got the T shirt horse when you're back in good health next year...

Dream horse turned nightmare... help me!

What is your riding experience prior to buying? Are you a new owner but really experienced rider used to bringing on young horses of an athletic nature without supervision, or a once a week riding school client? Makes a huge difference as to what options would be sensible for you to look at.

    Pony with Arthritus....realistic future?

It does sound quite severe from the information posted, and at such a young age that is awful for you, your daughter and the pony to have to deal with. You are not harsh, you are being both realistic and altruistic - thinking of the pony's welfare over your own grief. Go with your heart and...

    Livery around Sheffield

What do you actually want in terms of size of yard/facilities/hacking/competitions? To be honest, Sheffield isn't that great for competition level horse keeping (just guessing from the pics) but the North side has more yards and stuff going on than the South (I'm down on the South side...)...

    Myler combination bit?

Get a kitchen scourer on it, that will clean the rusted bits off. One of the metallic looking curly ones does it best. I use the same bit and I absolutely hate the "oh its meant to be like that" line. You put a pile of rust in your mouth and see if you like it then. If you clean it (rinse...

    Fibromyalgia

I had big problems with ME/fibromyalgia a few years ago but luckily am pretty good at the minute, if not back to the energy levels I used to think were normal. Reading your post has reminded me of the lack of muscle power I had at times. My doctors were of the chocolate teapot variety so I...

    Prelim Dressage - do I or don't I?

The rule change has only just recently been announced, and there is nothing on the website yet for registering an associate horse. It is to be set up in time for December so just keep an eye on the BD website in the meantime!

Rug with liner system for big neck and chested horse?

I have exactly the same issue and use these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/110806323998?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 to make the neck deep enough on my premier equine

    Adverts - Minimal Information

Bought my horse from a similar line ad in the Horse & Hound, was 15 years ago though so well before internet use was commonplace! I'd give them a ring if it was basically what I was looking for.

Passports and where do we stand with them?

Go collect him, take extra help just in case... Warn the local police of the situation beforehand in case you need to call in a breach of the peace should she kick off. If you have the yard owners contact details call to warn them you will be collecting so that they are also aware of the...

    Prelim Dressage - do I or don't I?

As I understand it... Rule change as of 1st December 2012 is that you and the horse will need to be at least an Associate member/horse to compete at Prelim after that date, you will be able to get the newly introduced Prelim points on the horse's record should you score highly enough, which...

    Youngstock Livery- S/W Yorks?

Hi, I asked this the other day too and didn't get any replies :(. So am interested in answers too! The only place I've found so far (by googling, I don't know them and haven't been to see the facilities) is here http://www.mbsporthorses.co.uk/
