    Which clippers? (links added)

I've just had the xplorer clippers very happy with them, the deal at mole valley is very good, better price than I paid at clipper sharp!

    Best cordless clippers?

Just had some heineger explorer clippers for my cob, v pleased with them, clipped feathers off twice so far & did a full clip yesterday, good result on a thick coat and took me half the time it would have done using my old liveryman arena clippers which always got really hot & blew up earlier...

    Best type of hoof supplement?

If the horse already has good feet, how about chatting to current owners about existing diet & continuing it now she is in your care. I use forage plus minerals, they get a good write up on barefoot sites but can be tricky to tempt some to eat it. good luck with your new horse.

What to do with tatty frogs?

Thanks for your response Moobucket, I'm keeping the straw bed really thick & am about to try a layer of either megazorb or hemp to soak up the wet. The cardboard worked well but I was using 4 bales a week at £7 a bale which was ridiculous, he was costing less to feed! I started off with the sole...

What to do with tatty frogs?

Hello, I'm caught in a dilemma, horse is fairly new to BF, backs off mid July, fronts off mid August, at same time as in hand walking rehab started after collateral ligament damage. In August farrier took a lot of thrushy frog off the backs, after 9 weeks box rest this was no surprise despite...

    Another barefoot progress post!

Hi Victoria, thx for your post, yes we are on forage plus minerals, linseed, vit E, & handful of Timothy chop, I've been meticulous picking out feet, cleaning with dilute hibiscrub and using iodine, I think the iodine might be too strong but was using sole cleanse & could see it was getting...

    Another barefoot progress post!

They look fantastic, I'm so envious of those frogs! Despite being very careful re thrush my recently barefoot horse is really struggling with thrush, the back feet look dreadful although he is moving fine so I'm hoping as the work increases they will improve.

Very nervous - bf support please!

Good luck with it all, I'm doing exactly the same, fronts came off mid August & built up bit by bit to 30 mins in hand on the road. Just bought some hoof boots as about to get back on board & Liz at hoofbootique was brilliant, I had in mind what I wanted but after sending photos & measurements...

    Heel first question

Sorry if this is a bit dim but should the heel still land first going up hill? I've noticed my boy who is new to barefoot is landing heel first on the flat & down hill but looks to be toe first going up even a relatively shallow slope. Is this normal or will this become heel first too as we...

Anyone else just started horse barefoot?

I'm doing exactly the same, my boy damaged his collateral ligament in June and as part of diagnosing this bilateral navicular changes were found on the MRI. Back shoes came off in July while on box rest & fronts off mid August just as I started the walking in hand exercise. We are up to 30 mins...

BF ? Heading in the right direction.

Yes he did but after 9 weeks box rest the frogs were very ragged & thrushy, so I didn't stop him when the shoes first came off. Thankfully after 4 weeks in hand walking they look much better than these photos show and going forward I know they need to be left well alone, but thanks for your...

BF ? Heading in the right direction.

Ooh yes, easy to see when you know what your looking for! Thank you. I have already told my farrier I wish to be present when he trims my horse going forward with this transition to barefoot, I have read & re read Nic Barkers feet first & one of Pete Rameys books so hope fully have awareness of...

BF ? Heading in the right direction.

Thank you Lucy, very much appreciated. Black feet are fronts, white are hinds. Yes all taken on the same day. The event lines surprised me on the photos's as they are not so evident in " real life" but the camera never lies! I suspect it's grazing changes, he came off day turnout in a very bare...
