People I know have one and he has attacked other dogs on numerous occasions and never seems to engage with you like ‘normal’ dogs do or show affection. He is also a terrible thief for anything left out that he wants to eat or chew. Probably partly their training, or lack of, but it’s the way he...
Interesting; I’m closer to the New Forest but fall under East Dorset. They are very picky on planning from what I can tell. Wonder why shipping containers were such a cause for concern? It just feels like the countryside is being pushed out gradually.
Yes but impossible to move regularly once the ground turns into a bog. Especially if you don’t have access to a tractor. I have found the mud mats exhausting to keep on top of as well and dreading digging them out; wish I’d put a waterproof membrane underneath before laying them to stop the mud...
Aivly in Ringwood is ok. I went to Rokers in Surrey instead this time which isn’t too far away and they had a very thorough fitter and lots of styles/price ranges to look at but virtually nothing in my size apart from super sparkly which isn’t my thing. I’m a medium so not an odd size. She did...
I think what I also find difficult mentally is that the councils are so awkward about shelters, hardstanding etc when it’s fine for them to build huge housing estates everywhere nearby. Mud mats just aren’t enough although do help a bit.
I’m in Dorset and it has been like this for the last few winters. 2024 wasn’t quite as bad but the two years before that it felt like it never stopped raining and I really struggled mentally with it as well as physically.
My horses are out 24/7 with only natural shelter. Luckily the field is...
Hmm sneaky. I had one recently where horse was scoped and myself and vets were almost 100% convinced horse had ulcers due to being a recent import after a long journey. But because scope was clear I had to pay the full amount as they will only cover the cost of scoping if grade 2 or higher are...
Steph Zebedee or Connie Colfox. Or Ellie Hawkin (Ellie Equine Services) who is used to riding out for trainers and is nice and sympathetic whilst firm. Connie probably has best facilities depending what you want done and is more NH focussed.
Just pondering a turnout question for showing; if using a double bridle but using a flat leather curb ‘chain’ instead of an actual chain (horse does not like chain type) do I still need to use a chin strap to be correct?
Also I can’t ride cobs so would avoid those. I used to wonder why it hurt so much when I schooled for friends on their wider horses and now understand why since finding out I have EDS! Which is probably why I’ve always preferred TB shaped horses otherwise my hips pop out! I remember as a kid...
I use elasticated ankle wraps to stop my ankles turning outwards and make sure my boots are well fitted especially through the ankle (so no riding in country boot styles).
Have also found wide stirrup leathers helpful for leg stability and Correct Connect reins with the squidgy leather pads...
Hot baths, shiatsu machine (not expensive on Amazon), ankle wraps for riding or tasks in heavy mud, CBD, painkillers, Ibuprofen gel, keeping warm generally. Winter is pretty hell ish. I have EDS so very similar to RA
