After lots of effort I’ve FINALLY got a call back, and she’s gone over to see her horse. Thank you for all of your help though, at least I’ll know what to do if I’m ever in a similar situation again.
Thanks. I’m just going to knock on her door now but if she doesn’t answer I may go down this line. A little hesitant too as I know how much conflict it will cause, but I don’t really have much choice. She should be microchipped as I know she was bought from Ireland.
I’ve just phoned my farrier and he’s not in the area, and is a bit hesitant to help as he’s not the farrier for this horse. I’m not sure who is the normal farrier
That’s awful. I don’t see why people own animals and refuse to take responsibility for them. The problem is we have about 6/7 vet practices in the area. I am going to try her house today (It should be easy enough to find out which is hers) and leave another note if she’s not...
So a horse in my care (neither the horse or the field belongs to me) has a 2yo field companion, who is simply in the field to keep her company, and belongs to a lady in the village who owns a yard. The 2yo is there in return for free grazing, no loan agreement or anything, just 2 horse owners...
I was a bit gutted that years ago, literally 1 month into working in my current job, a job came up in the equine department of a rescue center near me, for the same wages I'm on. Couldn't really apply as I'd only just started a job, and haven't seen anything else other than the odd part time...
Something I'm definitely going to look into. Not sure I could deal with being paid less though, I'm not exactly rich currently and if I was to get my own horse too I'd probably start rolling in debt. Maybe I'll do some research and see if there's any jobs going near me and what they pay.
Do you have any tips on getting into this? Think Id really enjoy this, as I enjoyed being a receptionist before, only it was for a building company which I have absolutely no interest in, but if animals are involved, even if its mainly on paper, that could be perfect!
Lol, the replies have really made me laugh. I’ve never been bothered about kids but my OH is really interested and it’s kind of hyped me up a bit for it. If he ever gets sick of me I’ll probably stick to a kid-free life.
I love the idea of a vet receptionist. Is there any...
Little intro:
I work on a lovely private yard, and its really lovely, a decent(ish - £8/hour) wage, and is close to my home, horses are really lovely, but its really hard work. I dont currently have my own horse as I find it too much when working with them too, but this is currently at the...
Thanks for all your help guys. I’m going to try and go over to reading nexts Weds, but if not I’ll put the date in the diary for next year. Would rather wait a few yearas and go into the sales confidently, than rush into it and come out with something completely unsuitable.
Really...
Thanks. I was hoping that the vet may give me frog supports, as delivery will take to long. Do vets usually do this? I just bought lamiguard and don’t want to give him to many supplements at once so think I’ll hold to this and if it doesn’t work I’ll try laminator...
Okay, that’s a bit more re assuring then. And if it’s free I may have a few oldies that may benefit from one too. May be pushing my luck though, but there’s no harm in asking. Do all vets do free cushings tests at this time of year?
Oh wow, I didn’t know that about lami vs colic. The vet he is registered with is quite small and only has the one (maybe 2?) specialised equine vets (again, not my choice in which vet he’s registered with) so I’m hoping they have an X-ray machine, although am a little doubtful...
