One of the ladies on my yard was telling me today that there are tablets you can get from the vet to help disperse the milk, i have no experience of this but might be helpful??
Its difficult to advise as i think its very much a personal thing. I have worked with both and prefer shavings however wood pellets are definately the cheaper option. Having also worked with straw whatever you try will take you a while to get used to.
I am the same as the GW, i put a rug on my foal without really thinking about it to be honest! Did let mare see and smell the rug before i put it on but mare didn't seem to care less. Thankfully! My colt has been no bother since day one, thankfully as i was 5 months pregnant when he came along...
It's lovely to hear so many nice things about Ace and i'm sure Doreen would be very touched. Ace was the first horse I ever sat on and as above was a true gentleman. He used to open his mouth for the bit not alot of horses would do that!

RIP Ace, a true gentleman who will be sadly missed.
I have a lovely colt by Ace, if he gets even just a wee bit of Ace's temprament he will be doing well.
Yes, very sad news indeed about Ace, he was the first horse i sat on and will be sadly missed, such a gentleman. I hope i can come up with a good name for his boy!

Thanks again x
My mare had a colt on Sat morning, both doing well but i need a name for him, any suggestions? His dam is Vienna (Blackmount Songbird) and sire is Ace (Stonegrove Ace). I would ike something bold, strong and masculine, maybe a country/city like Vienna but they all sound a bit femanine, or with...

God i want to reply to you all individually and thank you so much for you support, words of wisdom and encouragement.
Alot of the points mentioned are valid and i fear it has more to do with him wanting my undivided attention which his own mother said. I think he is insecure and needy but not...
God this is a common problem/complaint. Thanks so much for all your comments/suggestions.
