Had a horse blood tested and he had a low white blood cell count. The test said a virus. it seems to be going through the horses, another mare is poorly today. Most of the others seem to be recovered. I thought i had got them better on different hay but now this mare is ill. Vet again tomorrow i...
Have your hay analised for Mycotoxins. Take the horse of straw and bed on shavings.Try ryegrass hay or haylage . Re blood test when you have changed hay after a month. The levels should be getting lower if it is Mycotoxin poisoning. This has been a massive problem in my area.
My yard all went down with liver damage due to mycotoxin poisoning about three years ago. My vet had another two yards of forty horses per yard with the same problem. This was due to wet conditions in the summer. The hay thought looking brilliant was high in DON or Vomitoxin as was the straw...
I have ten horses all fed on the best quality hay. All ten are scouring. i have tried hay from two other sources , had the vet but they still arn't right. Could this be because the farmers have put to much nitrogen on to help the growth this year? I have had horses for 45 years and never had...
Thanks for all your help. The farrier did find a small split in his hoof wall yesterday when he was replacing the natural balance shoes my previous farrier put on. I am hoping the split was the problem but hoof testers at the time didn't get any response. He is a very tough horse though so may...
My Standardbred went extreemly lame coming home from a quiet hack about a month ago. He was so lame i had to leave him tied to a tree and run home to get the horsebox. He was groaning in pain for no apparent reason. The vet came about an hour later and he was looking better. She could find...
I am still furious to. I have a great friend who is a Parelli instructer who is standing up for him and refuses to see what he did. I am sure the parelli followers are brainwashed , like a religious cult with him as God and all good sense leaves them. I taught her for years to love and respect...
Can i just say that when we confronted Pat Parelli after the awfull treatment of the stallion Catwalk all he did was say " i'm sorry". "What can i do to make it right with you." He said he was sorry a dozen times. he said he loved horses and even showed us the lesion on the horses top lip and...
I spoke personally to Robert Whittacker to see if this was ok by him. He said he didn't have to talk to me. When i pressed him he said it was ok by him for the horse to recieve this treatment.
I tried to stop the demo as the abuse made me so mad i couldn't stop shaking. The worse thing is that Parelli keeps going the next day in a private arena when the vet said the horse was unfit. He has a 45ft line round it's neck , which is like razor wire and a rope in Catwalks already damaged...
I was at the demo and witnessed the abuse first hand. I confronted both Pat Parelli and Robert Whittaker and saw the cut caused by the gum line first hand. I would be more than happy to give evidence if a prossecution was taken up by any welfare body. As i am sure the Festival of the Horse vet...
I was there and that poor horse showed not one bit of aggression at any time. I saw the tears in his mouth. I looked myself as Pat parelli lifted his lip. He was a very gentle horse who had been so tortured he just took it.
