    Equine thermography(equine scanning)

http://www.meditherm.com/equine/specifications.htm Here's the website I found when looking around - operating temperature (near bottom of list) has to be between 18 and 30 degrees (not above 20 as I thought before)... still not that often over 18 degrees here, wish it was though!

    Equine thermography(equine scanning)

Southwesty - absolutely, really careful prep is needed for these images to be of value, you can't just point and shoot... mmm I researched these cameras - medical grade means suitable for use indoors in a clinical setting on humans. These cameras are only accurate at ambient temperatures of 20...

    Equine thermography(equine scanning)

It'll show you if there is a problem in the joint... won't necessarily tell you what that problem is though - you might need an xray or ultrasound to find out more. Although, if the thermal imaging technician has a high res camera, you can make out the anatomy just the same as you can from a...

    Equine thermography(equine scanning)

Yes, I've used it - very impressed. Gave me a holisitic view of what was going on when my horse's performance declined, so vet could then hone in on where the problem was (back). I used Veterinary Thermal Imaging, very helpful and answered all the questions I had beforehand.

    My 11.2 pony wont eat

I'd second what Sue says, especially as the same thing happened last year - although you say that the blood tests were all negative... It'd be unusual for a 11.2 to not do well just on forage. Although she's been wormed it might be worth sending a poo sample off for analysis. Some worms have...

Totally fed up, horse still lame.

Your poor lad, must be hard to see him like that. Is it worth giving your farrier a call to see if he can come out? If it's an abscess he could be able to offer some relief by draining it...

not crossing hind legs but pivetting on feet

Keep an eye on him, it's really slippy out there, he could have 'tweaked' something. Try backing him up and see if he can take even strides backwards, and turn small circles on both reins to see if he can cross legs one way and not the other... failing to be able to do one or other could show a...

    BHS Teaching Qualifications

I took my BHS exams 1-3 and PTT. They've stood me in good stead in my later career. I don't teach anymore, but when I've gone for other jobs it's stood me apart from other candidates who don't have them. I was a working pupil when I took mine, and received riding training and lecture daily. I...

I'd have thought your vet would have come out if you were really worried and thought it'd got worse....

Is this a Bot Fly larvae?

    I'd say so too, ewwww!

    Thermography v Scintigraphy?

Knowing where to start to get a diagnosis is half the battle in my opinion. I've used thermal imaging to narrow down the 'search' area on horses and dogs. It hasn't failed yet! In fact, on my horse it not onliy highlighted where the primary problem (in his back) was, but also highlighted a...
