I use the foam insulation pipe/ narrow diameter, so easy to hold, with my youngster. If he gets a bit in your face when leading, I carry it in away that he prefers to walk forward nicely than mess around trying to walk infront of me. It's difficult to explain, but I find it very useful.
I always go earliest slot. Push on and get back before all the crowds wanting to go last, because they think it will be quiet, start.😁 if you push on, once warmed up, they are normally more able to cope with the few serious really fast over takers. Caveat.. dont dawdle, trot on 😀
This is exactly what my friend did back in the 80's. 4 earth floored stables. All semi deep littered with straw. I wouldn't waste money on expensive bedding alternatives unless horse has health issues.
Everyday is like bloomin Christmas Day for ours.😁. So as a special treat on Chiristmas Day, we might not poo pick. The horses then love watching us Boxing Day, double wammy...what fun..💩😅
I find the whole transporting horses thing very upsetting. Seen boxes with ramps so vertical, no wonder the horse won't load. Flimsy side panels. Floors with gaps. It amazes me that there are people who say they love their horses but are willing to put them in death traps because the price is...
I have learnt so much from my daughter and her builds. If you would like any advice, no pressure, genuinely care about safety in horse transport. Feel free to pm me.
.
Thank you for sharing. Im very fortunate, my daughter sells amazing 3.5 tonne boxes. She is so fussy about safety and payloads. Every box is designed for ours to go in and then extras are added for customers. It's so bizarre. The baby I put in a car seat now transports me and our precious cargo...
I've said before, so sorry if boring. Be careful of what is in the wood pellets. Some are meant for wood burners and not suitable for a horse or owner to breathe in. Too dusty and dogey left overs compressed.
I used to ride bare back all the time. I look back and it's like looking at a different person.😁. Like Gloi, vaulting on at gallop, the whole works. First 6 weeks of owning my pony, we couldn't afford a saddle😯. Those were the days. To add, we had alot more off road riding then.
My fear is public liability will be void if on land one does not have permission to ride and something goes wrong. Ie a public foot path. Happy to be advised otherwise?
