Over the last 2 weeks, I have carried on with my manage work, working on warming up really well, then walk, trot, walk transitions with a couple of canters towards the end of the session. We have a mile long drive to the farm, and I have been walking down the drive and back to cool Shiney down...
Well, I finally got back in the saddle. It's been 5 months since I rode due to prostate problems including 10 weeks since my operation.
This weekend I finally got on Shiney. I have done 6 weeks in the gym working on my strength and fitness to get ready for this weekend.
I got to the yard...
Well done, we had a good learning day again. You both did really well, we just need to have a better strategy for different scenario;s in the warm up.. ie. a quiet warm up area we are fine - but a busy area like yesterday and the whole plan went to pot.
I bought Shiney at 19 years old and it was the best thing I have ever done.
He is 22 now and insured for vets bills although this year it is just for accident, not wear and tear.
He has taught me so much, it was really worth taking the risk, so go for it.

FigJam - Mickeymoo swears she will never compete against me as because I learn't to ride late in life I haven't yet developed bad habits, where MM was thrown on as a child and only really had lessons in the last 5 years.
Kerilli - I am hoping to be back up to speed by...
I am Buddha - the other half to Mickeymoo, and Shiney the show cob/dressage stallion is my boy.
I have been off riding for a few months due to an operation but hopefully will be back in the saddle at the end of October.
I hope to repeat if not better my wife's success when I take Shiney back...
