Why not start with the 3 S's - Stop, Start and Stear. I remember this from when I started. Focus on inside leg to outside hand and slowly work on position. This will help them grasp the basics and get their balance in the saddle while their muscles develop. Then you could try getting your friend...
my tb has, and has been for the past 4 years, been fed in adlib hay and a scoop of Dengie morning and night with vitimin supplement. When he's lost condition or been working hard I add basic pony cubes or soya oil to his feed.
Its really hard as he heats up on basically anything! We've just...
I don't jump and I very rarely hack. I enjoy my horse and spend time doing what I want to do. I would never criticise anybody as long as their horse was happy and healthy. This is meant to be fun and I don't see the fun in forcing myself to do something I don't want to.

my ex racer is a very grumpy person, espicially in the mornings. He is so much better in the summer when he is out 24/7, apart from when its wet, or hot, or windy, or there's flies....

I was there yesterday and people tendered to wander in and out to go for lunch / drinks / walk the XC course. There was a lot to do outside of the arena so you could go watch it for a bit and then go off and stretch your legs. There were quite a few whole blocks which weren't filled though.
I usually stick some over reach boots on to cover it until the farrier can come out. OR as suggested above, put some duct tape over it just to keep it covered.
