    Thoughts on PTS

Sorry you are going through this, always such a tough decision. A friend's mare was PTS by injection by the RVC, she couldn't bare to stay but they had no problem with me being there with her all through the procedure. All very quick and painless. Not sure why you haven't been allowed to stay ...

Horses weeing when they see you

My previous share gelding used to pee every time I went to catch him, he'd start walking towards me, stop for a pee, then carry on walking over towards me ! It was a bit of a standing joke.. never did it for anyone else ! Not sure whether he knew he was going to have to work for an hour or so...

Hoof Boots: least bulky & quickest to put on/take off-whats new?

No vet can't find any reason, not pain related. I suspect it is more his conformation, and just wondered if any particular boots might help. Looking at remedial farrier work, though he's off work atm for a different reason :(

Hoof Boots: least bulky & quickest to put on/take off-whats new?

Been using the Scoot Boots for a couple of months. We've really liked them, as they are very lightweight and the pony can do fast work, jumping etc in them, hardly noticing they are on. I use a hoof pick to do up the straps and they get easier as they stretch a little, so find them very quick...

    Hoof boots??

My share pony went barefoot about 9 months ago. His feet have been great, but for longer rides, especially those with stoney stetches we have been using hoof boots. Started off with the Cavallos which were fine, but do seem quite clumpy. We have to wade a couple of rivers, they don't have...

    Help - 'curing' a headshaker??

I had a very similar experience with the pony I used to share. He moved yards to one less than 5 miles away. All was fine until the Spring when he began headshaking, the vet recommended a nose net and we would have looked into meds, but it improved with the nose net. It actually stopped...

WHat's the daftest thing your horse has spooked at ?

His own over reach boots - when he put his head down to take a drink out of the river... The damp patch in the school where he had just done a wee and carried on, even after it had dried to a normal shade!

Roll up! Roll up!! Get the answer you're looking for RIGHT here. NO problem too big..

Please don't waste your money buying new stuff for your new horsie. Just post in any fb page asking for free or very cheap stuff. Loads of people will be happy to give you things as I'm sure they didn't have to save up to buy them in the first place, they will just be sitting around the tack...

    Surely this isn't right..... :(

My current share is a Paso Fino and I can confirm that the gait is a totally natural pace for them. This would be an example of extreme collection which would be no more difficult to train than a collected trot (though I doubt all Paso's could as collected and speedy as the one shown!) and is...

Attention Peter Natt RE: bridleways Chiswell Green

Hi Do you cover Radlett/Shenley area too? There is a bridleway along by Harpers lane, which clearly has a sign pointing across a field, but at the other end is a gate and a 'no horses' sign... Thanks

just out of interest/opinions sharing costs

On recent 'share hunt' I've been offered all sorts of deals, from paying nothing and doing jobs... up to £75 a week! It totally depends on what you both want from a share, whether it is a time issue or a money issue. It has to be mutually beneficial. Personally I definitely know exactly how...

Cheeky/ridiculous posts you see on Facebook.

There was someone looking for a 'surf single' the other day.. apparently there weren't any available on ebay - really??!!! We all have to learn somewhere - but surely just 5 minutes with google would have helped !!

Poo picking - is this reasonable?

Thanks for all your advice and figures ! :) She did mean permanently 15 per week!!! I replied with all your helpful figures and suggested that it was excessive, and that we should all make an effort to clear the field and then keep a better check on what everyone does on a weekly basis.

Poo picking - is this reasonable?

Thanks to everyone for your views, I was rather take aback at the suggestion to be honest! Yes, it is shared but only one other horse at the moment, a large 16.2 cob. My share pony is only on grass and a small feed of balancer once a day. I pay approximately half of the basic livery, and do...
