Sale trial terms? Advice much appreciated! :)

I completely understand that, Meredith. And probably better to be over cautious! The only reason I've agreed to it is because I know where he's going, have eyes on the yard, and have done a little homework on the family buying him. But as you say...there's always a risk. I want to make sure...

Sale trial terms? Advice much appreciated! :)

Thank you ycbm! I hadn't realised that about the passport - that's good to know, thank you! They have told me verbally that they will take care of any vets bills incurred etc during the trial, but I'd definitely prefer to have it all in writing. Exactly for that reason...better to be safe than...

Sale trial terms? Advice much appreciated! :)

Hi everyone! Due to a change in circumstances, I'm having to sell my boy (absolutely gutted - but it is what it is :( ). The family who would like to buy him have asked for a trial (of six weeks, to give him time to settle etc). I'm totally happy with that - I'd rather him go to the right...

Anyone NOT hack out, and just stay in the school?

Reading through all of your wonderful replies, it seems to me that this is very much a divided topic. For those of you who are confident hacking, even out in traffic, was there anything particular that helped you gain that confidence, or was it just a case of time and persistence? Or maybe...

Anyone NOT hack out, and just stay in the school?

This basically sums up my concerns. I am not so much afraid of what my horse may or may not do - it's the worry of the traffic that concerns me. We have a quiet country lane running around the side of our yard, but it's very windy with bends you can't see around. Cars generally are no problem...

Anyone NOT hack out, and just stay in the school?

Thank you so much everyone! I have to say, I was nervous about posting this. When I have posted here in the past, I've usually swiftly felt like an idiot :) But that's what this journey is all about for me - pushing myself out of my comfort zone. Your responses have helped me so much, and given...

Anyone NOT hack out, and just stay in the school?

Thank you so much Mule! That's what my husband keeps telling me - I'm doing this for PLEASURE, as something I can really enjoy. But at the same time, I want to make sure my boy is happy :) Like I say - so long as there's food, he's generally happy lol!

Anyone NOT hack out, and just stay in the school?

Thank you so much Miss C! Is there a reason why you hate hacking so much? x

Anyone NOT hack out, and just stay in the school?

Thank you so much for this Jennie! I'm always trying to push myself just that little bit further. I went out on Saturday despite being really anxious, and the world didn't end lol! I actually enjoyed myself :) It's just the constant thought of 'what if...' in the back of my mind. I think about...

Anyone NOT hack out, and just stay in the school?

I know...I'm so lucky! We have a covered floodlit school. I feel very blessed to have it as an option :)

Anyone NOT hack out, and just stay in the school?

Thank you so much Ant - that's so helpful, you have no idea! I am proactive about tackling my anxiety head-on (and have been for over ten years), and owning my horse has taught me more about resilience, patience and determination than anything I've ever done before. (I will add that I'm not...

Anyone NOT hack out, and just stay in the school?

I hear you! I'm the same. I went out on Saturday and I was absolutely fine - but there have been other times where I'm just not up for it :/

Anyone NOT hack out, and just stay in the school?

Thanks for your thoughts, Stormox! I've owned him since the beginning of the year, and he's wonderful. I'm having lessons with him - I just feel like I need more time right now to practice what I'm learning before venturing out too far :) For the time being, anyway!

Anyone NOT hack out, and just stay in the school?

Thank you Stormox! My plan is to hack often - but for the time being, I feel like I need to focus on the basics, in a more controlled environment :) I can definitely ride around the field! And I do go up and down the track that runs through the yard :)

Anyone NOT hack out, and just stay in the school?

Thank you Ant! At the moment, I am trying to go as often as possible. I went out on Saturday with two others, and I did enjoy it. But the anxiety of something going wrong is - at the moment - so bad. I can't wait until I can go out with confidence that we can handle whatever comes our way :/ :)
