What is the highest dressage score you have ever received?

Had a couple of 15 at novice a few years ago, and a 23 at Int. (Also managed an 86% in an unaff prelim, but was being judged by an ex-pupil who got really nervous when I rode in and got a bit generous!)

    Bute and breeding: your thoughts?

Some competing stallions have their joints injected on a regular basis and would possibly be lame without them. Surely this is just as bad for the breeding of sound horses?

What to look for at Goresbridge Sales in Dec

Finding one with correct limbs AND good wind is a bit of a challenge, but there are usually some nice ones. May see you there!

    Houston as a sire...

he is Wish Upon A Star's dam sire. Have not seen him in the flesh but I did hear from someone that his stock have a high % of OCD. I do not know this to be fact, just hearsay. Looking at the KWPNstallions website, he has mostly grade 2 x-rays himself. On the conformation trait page his only...

i think he is going to be the best in the world for a very long time. How often does a horse like that come along? Milton, Desert Orchid, Red Rum, Murphy himself, Kauto Star. All supremely talented and able to capture the public's imagination. very rare.

    British Dressage for a newbie

If your horse does dressage as well as it is jumping in your photos, I suspect you will be winning lots of classes. what a lovely looking horse! I think londonstudent has answered all your questions to the full.

    Bad News

probably best to turn him out with the other mare. It is very unlikely that he is old enough to cover her with success. He may try though! I once had a 4 yr old in to school who had been put back with his mother after weaning, (she came back into milk for him and let him feed for the next two...

best/safest way to do this (moving a foal)

Sorry, watching xtra factor and replying at the same time! I think the best plan would be to either put her in a stable for the night and then turn her out with the old pony the next day or (if it is during the morning and if the weather is calm and not as windy/wet as it has been for the last...

best/safest way to do this (moving a foal)

Lots to worry about! It's nice to see you are thinking hard about what is best for the foal. I have never travelled a foal on its own so cannot help you with advice re transport. However, I think it may not be wise to put her in a field shelter, behind slip rails, with a pony she does not...

I watched it while listening to the X Factor. Not sure the music matched the performance! Who was the chap riding the dark bay horse that did the changes on the circle (was having difficulty concentrating on the tv and computer...). I thought his horse and test was lovely.

Staying 'with' the horse when riding xc - help

Out of interest, do the Ideal saddles still have the stirrup bars in the normal position? I rode in a new Jeffries Falcon the other day, which had the stirrup bars set further back on the saddle (as is the fashion for some new dressage saddles). As a result, every time I jumped a fence, my...
