My vet has watched him on the lunge in all paces and says he is not lame at all. He is the best vet in my area, Trading Standards actually use him for all their court cases. I do not have any insurance for vet's fees and just cannot afford the cost of all the x-raying that would be involved...
My gelding constantly stumbles for no apparent reason, often going onto his knees. I had the vet out last week and he could find nothing clinically wrong other than his heels were a bit high. He said x-rays would be prohibitively expensive as he would have to take so many different views of both...
I live in a National Park where even more stringent rules apply and the lady next door to me has been living illegally in a static caravan on her own land for years. I have lived here three years and I know from the neighbours that she had been having arguments with the National Park planners...
When I ride my horse it feels like his off fore keeps giving way, it's a bit like a momentary stumble only he isn't tripping over anything. It happens several times on a ride, usually after the first half hour or so. That's the only way I can describe it. A couple of times over the last few...
My Sect. D gelding has a very hard mouth and consequently his brakes aren't that good, does anyone have any suggestions as to what bit I could use to give me more control.
Sorry if I'm being a bit thick but I have bought the Cavallo Simple Boots and they came with free pastern wraps. There are two velcro bits at the bottom of the wraps and I can't work out where they fasten to. Anyone know.
I am heavier than you and my welsh cob carries me fine. The traditional welsh cobs have plenty of bone and are bred to be weight carriers. I live up in the Welsh hills and farmers use them all the time for sheperding. Some of the men that ride them are certainly not lightweights!!!
Anyone used these for riding with and do they stay on okay? My horse is always losing shoes and doesn't go well being unshod, wondering if these may be the answer.
I have two 15hh horses with access to 33 acres of good grazing which drains very well all winter so consequently never gets trashed. Do you think this is adequate without hay all winter except obviously if it snowed I would need to feed it then.
I personally think that is a lot of money for a 21 year old. My old boy (now deceased) was 21 yrs when I bought him, it was a better market than now, and I paid £500 with all his tack! He was ridden until he was 26 yrs and sadly put to sleep a year later. Because of the distress of losing him...
As in title really ............ both my horses are cobs and good doers. They have access to acres and acres of grass all winter and live out. I always give them hard feed during the coldest months but am having difficulty in my area getting any hay for the winter that isn't horrendously...
When is the risk of laminitis contracted from pasture over? My boy has had a bout of laminitis this summer and is on a very restricted paddock, only let onto the rest of the land with a grazing muzzle for a few hours. I would like to be able to let him out unrestricted at some point but not sure...
