We went to chateau laumiere (in Lot region, France) a few years ago and would definitely recommend. The people are friendly and homely and there were other people staying so it wouldn't just be the two of you (if that matters?). They also can do lessons but my novice husband enjoyed the morning...
I wouldn't be keen on kids hanging round my ponies but I was once a pony mad little girl who would think nothing of entering a field near my grans and grooming someone's horse. The horse was old and pretty much abandoned as had been too much for the owner to ride. The owner popped down to see...
Have a look at the confident rider hypnosis CDs, they aren't too expensive and may be worth a try. Helped me with my jumping anxiety. You also need a confidence giving pony, what about a Highland?
Sounds like she should get rid of the husband his bullying won't be helping the relationship with the horse :(. Maybe both of them should go and be replaced with a lovely cob
Agree with brightbay, its definitely the 'all you can eat buffet' that encourages my two to go back to bed! They come out and let me clean the stables and then try to go back in, instead of heading to the field through their gate in the morning. It's quite funny until the Highland really...
Have you looked at Megazorb? I quite liked it for my stinky chap but have moved onto the pellets as I can get them cheaper locally (now having your bed compaction issues!)
The Megazorb really did what it said though I only used small quantities of it so not sure what it will be like for a big bed.
I have trouble lifting big containers so we now fill up about 8-10 of the 5L water bottles from the supermarket and then these get put in a hay net which is secured on the floor at the front of the trailer. They are much easier for me to lift and I can pour them straight over the pony if...
I think if your husband isn't on board with the riding that sadly you shouldn't :(
My husband is supportive of me riding in pregnancy and I've had two miscarriages now which were absolutely nothing to do with my keeping riding, they were missed ones with developmental issues, he was...
Can you practice leading in a 'safe' area like a field and have him on a longer line/lunge rein. It would give you more purchase when he starts to go than a short rope...it's easier to turn them in it. If he then learns that he can't get away and just gets out to work on a circle it may put...
Decide whether you would like the money or time and then either charge her for full or part livery depending on how much you are doing or tell her to leave. You could get a small companion for your horse from a charity who would make smaller poop and not turf up all your grass and be less work...
