Silica sand! What are the health risks?

That same study says that as a general rule, exposure to respirable crystalline silica should be kept as low as is reasonably practicable. The writer goes onto say that even where exposure levels are deemed acceptable, it is by no means ideal. Every effort should be made to reduce the amount of...

Silica sand! What are the health risks?

Please see below http://www.hse.gov.uk/construction/healthrisks/cancer-and-construction/silica-dust.htm This is why it is not used for sandblasting anymore. They use plastic balls instead. If you cannot dampen it down then maybe invest in a face mask. Not ideal I know.

Equine flu outbreak - anyone else thinking about curtailing plans?

Same here but they’re letting liveries go out compete and take part in clinics. THAT doesn’t make sense.

Equine flu outbreak - anyone else thinking about curtailing plans?

My local yard has done this too BUT is still allowing liveries to go out compete and do clinics. This seems odd to me.

Ifor Williams 505 what is this??

Inside the FRONT of my trailer, in the centre, there are two hooks. One is at waist level point up and the other is above it at the very top of the trailer pointing down. What are they for?

What's your definition of a "competition horse"?

This is such an interesting thread. Leo’s description of his hairy pony doesn’t fit my definition of a competition horse. HOWEVER if that same pony went on to compete affiliated dressage SJ or anything else for that matter and she managed to show a consistent and progressive record, going...

What's your definition of a "competition horse"?

It is interesting that some people’s perception of a competition horse includes horses that haven’t actually competed. I thought it was more of a literal description ie the horse has competed rather than one that simply looks like it could or should. I suppose in my mind, I would not call...

    Increasing sale price

It will be really interesting to see what you think of this horse. I would go along - ignore the comments re price going up. Try then make a decision. If you decide to put in an offer, I would base it on the price as advertised. I genuinely think people say the daftest things to try and sell...

How much to pay a showing judge płease?

Thank you for the suggestion and I’ll pass that onto the committee. I’m hoping that if it goes well then it may be repeated. It quite extraordinary how much horse folk do voluntarily for fellow horse people. People giving up entire weekends to judge, fence judge, pole pick, etc. It’s a...

How much to pay a showing judge płease?

Absolutely. Thank you all for replying. This is a one off village show and I had planned to provide resfreshments and a lunch but also expenses of £50. I had thought this was far too little but this might be about right as there is very little travel and it should only be about four hours of...

    Wood pellet users

I haven't used Vet to but what I would say is that over the summer, my damp wood pellet bed dried out completely. Over winter, despite taking out all the wet, it still seemed damp. However it dried over summer. Now we are in December, it is feeling slightly damp again. But it is much easier...

How much to pay a showing judge płease?

I have friends who were organising a small show and they require a unaffiliated showing judge for the day. I was wondering how much they should expect the judge’s time? And would it be much more for an affiliated judge? Many thanks
