    Stitches require a general?

Just to say, the vet says the wound is 'healing nicely' so she has re-dressed it and sent him home. I am extremely relieved! Thanks to those who have taken so much time to write really clear explanations.

    Stitches require a general?

Thanks for more explanation. It’s the first time I’ve been told there’ll be a GA. 20 odd years of owning this breed, with various injuries and the guy who used to own the practice never used a ga, but as you say, time moves on. Thank you for your time explaining, it has made the reasons much...

    Dogs on Long lines.

I said the other week I'd never have little ones, I'd be panicking if bigger dogs went up to them. Hadn't considered the raptor issue, lots of red kite round here!

    Dogs on Long lines.

Had one bound up to Mitch in the woods today, on a longline (but not attached to the owner) and very in his face, owner futilely calling it. Jumped at me, tangled round me and Mitch as I walked down the path. I had to tell it to get down! I'm so glad you found the little dog. Can you imagine...

    Another fatal dog attack

The poster is in the US. Have you not seen Cujo?!

    Stitches require a general?

Genuinely getting thoroughly peed off at the suggestions that I would expect him to have stitches without sedation (Bear had light sedation when he needed a dew claw trimmed back, obviously lots of painkiller, I assume a local). Do you honestly think I’d allow that? Obviously I’m an effing...

    Stitches require a general?

That’s what the vet said. She’s hoping it’ll seal up, but I’m not optimistic given it’s been a few days! Thank you for your explanation and for not assuming that I want it done with him being able to feel it! Honestly, I’d have it done for him if I could. I’m even more precious about him than...

    Proud dog owner moments

Mitch went for his first woods walk today since box rest for his split paw. We met multiple dogs, I asked him to go past a cockapoo (?) whose body language did not look friendly. I just thoroughly enjoyed watching him sniff and explore, he’s like a dressage pony, moves beautifully, comes back...

    Stitches require a general?

I’ll let you all know how he gets on. Currently asleep on my knee, as per.

    Stitches require a general?

Yes, we probably should have stuck him in his crate, he’s been allowed to walk round the garden (wound has been covered). I would have thought it would have been ok to do a local anaesthetic, I am in no way suggesting the vet do it without at least a local! It will need debriding, would have...

    Stitches require a general?

Took Goose to the vet on Thursday due to a short laceration. It probably needs 3-4 stitches having seen plenty of similar injuries over the years. The vet gave it a thorough clean, during which Goose was immobile (he’s very scared of being at the vet, despite nothing ever having happened to him...

    Another fatal dog attack

Did anyone mention reporting the post on Facebook? They'd surely have to remove anything like that, given it's illegal? They're very hot about taking down animals for sale. There are no longer prices on the local horsey group after the admins were warned that they couldn't have for sale adverts.

    For the Love of Dogs

You need to have undergone a tragedy or had someone with significant illness to get on there! Hopefully they re-home in between programmes to average non-tragic people! I think the last one I saw recently was from 2021, they must have them stacked up.

Same, I love the happy re-homing stories, it's why I can't stop watching Doghouse, even tho the receptionist is like a kids' TV presenter. :(

    For the Love of Dogs

I saw some pretty nasty stuff about AH taking over, but the idea is that Battersea remains high profile. I think they had popular dogs, a cute puppy, a chocolate lab, a nice cocker with a sob story, all of which helped, but tbh, she seemed fine, really keen on the dogs and everyone will just get...
