Thank you replies.
just a quick update. Jazz is feeling well. Very sprightly and very eager to eat. He has put a little weight back on with just an increase in rations and an extra meal during the day.
we’re coming into spring here and have been very wet, so hopefully we’ll see some good grass...
Thank you for your replies. I have decided this is probably the best action. Introducing a new feed when he is already compromised is not really a good idea. I have upped his usual ration, and he is getting extra meals during the day. When he is recovered and bloods come back clear I can re...
Thank you. Definitely some suggestions to consider. He was very dehydrated, but I have seen him drinking well and I give him sloppy speedibeet. I can't believe how quickly the weight came off, esp as hes never been sick, so I haven't seen it before
Hello,
I am needing some advice on how best to feed and support my sick tb. He is 17yrs old, and never been sick in his life, but I had a call from the yard a couple of days ago that he wasn't eating ( very unusual for him ) and had a temp and increased respiratory rate. He'd been seen well the...
I'm going to go against the grain and say I don't really rate the ones I have, or maybe I should say that they aren't bad brushes, but for the money, I don't think they are as good as they say. I had a very good brush that I got in the UK last time I was there, which latest years and was better...
I now have my tb barefoot. I have a fantastic farrier who had kept him sound in shoes, despite having thin soles and a small degree of pedal bone sinking. Xrays also showed bone spurs and pedal osteitis. This time last year he started to need bute for 3 days when he was shod, and began to get...
Has he vomited shortly after eating?
My cat was sick after eating, then developed a food aversion. The vet was at the stage of recommending that she was tube fed. Finally we tempted her with a donut, but I realise that probably is unusual. Maybe something like sardines ( usually a favourite )...
HI
I'm not sure what sort of temperatures you experience? is it very humid as well?
I'm in Australia, and it can be temps in the 40s with 90% humidity as well, so pretty unpleasant.
I make wet feeds, and feed additional wet feeds during the day. I feed an electrolyte daily.
I don't rug my boy...
thank you for the replies.
It will only be a small amount (thats all there is ), just a couple of mouthfuls probably. Handpicking seems to be better than cutting?
I just feel so sorry for him not having the chance to eat grass!
Kx
Hello,
Apologies if this is a stupid question.....
I am in Australia, in a very dry area, and we have now reached the point where there is next to no grass in my boys paddock. He is on bucket feeds and hay, but missing fresh grass.
My garden has some grass still, and I was wondering if I could...
Coming at this as somebody that hates jumping, so has huge admiration for anyone jumping anything bigger than a trot pole !
I would say though that I think you need to give a little more with your hands over the jump. You do look quite stiff - for want of a better word.
Which ankle did you...

My local feed store stopped writing up the price of hay and feed, as it was changing and going up so quickly. I managed to get some sourced, at a pretty high price, just before Xmas.
Where my horse is there have been 2 days where the temp has been below 30degrees, most days are over 35...
