Getting back into riding- Hit me with tips/updates to how the horsey world works right now

I’ve on the same journey, had 8 years off from owning/riding and now looking at just hiring a riding school horse to hack for the first month before I start lessons, then hopefully part loan/share during the winter if my old bones are okay. I would love to own again and proper compete as I...

Owner wanting me to buy back pony or going to court!!!

Another option is to ask if one member of HHO would go and access the pony for you if they are local to it now. It would need to be a professional riding instructor etc, but if all is well then you will have evidence, or on the other hand if pony is being difficult they can suggest a course of...

    Welcome to HHO Towing Clinic

Does anyone know of any good training books/guides that sit along side of the test please? I want to do some home study before I go for my training. Thanks

Is there a market for a schoolmaster who won't pass a vetting?

It would be something I would look at, send over an advert as I am currently looking

    Best stirrup irons

That's a good price where did you get them from?

    Best stirrup irons

I love the the free jump pros but like many people not the price. Is there any good alternatives? I'm not really fussed on colour/finish but due to an injury I do struggle to keep my irons, but with the free jumps I don't have that issue at all, so a good cheese grater is a must. Cheers

    Best ventilated helmet?

I had this issue a few weeks ago! I went for the gatehouse Chelsea pro air. A nightmare to get hold of but I got one after putting in 3 orders with different tack shops. I've so far found it really good and much cooler then my previous hat

Tekna saddles - thoughts? Do they suit "banana backs"?

My friend had one, it squeaked really bad! I couldn't ride with her as it drove me mad! For a good cheaper saddle look at the shires range or the new thorowoods are t4/8's

horse I have for sale keeps failing vettings - what to do?

Another option is too lvtb, that way he be off sales livery and someone could test him out for a few months knowing the failed flex tests. You could state the horse must be shod by a certain farrier if you think it could possibly be something to do his feet. He is obviously coping with a work...

Training a youngster who has been overbombproofed

I know of a similar now 4 year old. Was always kept on livery yards with older horses until sold to her now owner. She was so good, too good, just like yours. My friend did the basics- being sat on, road walks in hand, that sort of thing. Then because of my friends work load she got turned out...

Rubbish feet taking over my life

I would be looking into copper nails, of this was my horse.

    Would you tow 2 horses?

As long as the car is in good order ie gearbox okay, reg serviced with good brakes and tyres then it should be okay, your not up to the limit so you still have a bit to play with

Worried about pony's extreme aversion to catching

A tip if he keeps on getting a head collar off is too plait it into the mane. If it gets caught it will still come off, aswell as pulling some mane out, just make sure you don't plait too much hair though

Is this worth mentioning to local RC?

I've got a friend that makes a bit of space using those wind breakers you use at the beach. She had a horse that couldn't tolerate anything getting too close behind so she made her own space at shows, it worked really well to be honest

    Loan Problems

God I find that really cheeky, far enough to have a sit on every few months but as a weekly thing then no way. I would be taking tack home. You need to address this, how lovely it is for the owner to still have a pony, get someone else to look after it and they come and go for a jolly with no...
