    Reasonable offer...

What price do you put on safety?? I think both you & the seller need to be realistic but a good schoolmaster doesn't devalue if fit and well. I'm not saying pay the same price. I paid 6k for a pony as a 5 yr old and sold him 10 years later for 1k. He owed me nothing, I had my enjoyment from...

Starting Pony on Prascend - What to Expect

My 9yr old LR pony was diagnosed with Cushings in October last year after having several bouts of laminitis. She had 1 tablet for 1 month then reduced to half a tablet after that. She responded well and had no side effects. Unfortunately she also had EMS and was so sensitive to change that when...

    PTS problem

I've seen the injection not work. I had a racehorse strike into its tendon at Newcastle and because the crowd are so close to the vets boxes they will not shoot there so they injected but it took 3 attempts as horse was so high on adrenalin. It was quite awful. shooting is quick and I'm...

    Soaking hay ... What a palaver ...

I've been using a wheelie bin for my soaking. It's easy then to thread net string through handle of bin, pull up out of water and tie. Leave to drain while you muck out. No mess and no getting wet or having it dripping all over. Then wheel bin to nearest draining area and tip out. I've been...

    Knee infection, euthanised

So sorry to read this. I sympathise with you desperately. I had to make the very same decision last week with my 3yr old daughters 10yr old LR pony. Hardest decision I've ever had to make and feel I'm grieving for her too. I've had a little moment every day over the last week but 8 days on its...

Lost my daughters LR pony on Monday - Devastated

Without going into detail I can sympathise with you and totally understand where you are coming from. Your YO was harsh but they could argue they have a business to run. Fortunately my YO is a little more compassionate.

    Shogun for Towing

We've got a LWB '09 Auto Shogun, a '56 L200 Auto Warrior pick up & a LWB '12 VW Transporter Manual. All 3 are exceptionally good for towing and while the shogun can tow the most weight the Transporter is the most stable. Love all 3 and would advise any of them. We use the transporter to pull...

People from the Racing World: Advice Appreciated

Yes I worked on the flat & over fences then in USA as a work rider, we also stood the 2 TB stallions Lord Bud & Lucky Moon. I agree the sales catalogues may be a great place as people are buying un named horses there all the time. Why not give Terry Court a call from Brightwells. They hold...

People from the Racing World: Advice Appreciated

I also would say to target the race cards or maybe the trainers directly as often they print newsletters for the owners and staff. We used to do the Hammond Herald!! Was great for our owners and staff.

What do you think of inbreeding, linebreeding and backbreedi

If it works it's line breeding if it doesn't it's in breeding. We line breed but for me I'm not sure father daughter would be something I would do however that said I've seen some fantastic dogs and ponies with father daughter breeding. Never ever son on mother, total no no.
