That's a really good arena, you've got a good long side to get into the stride of a good canter before hitting a corner, where you can drop back to trot if you don't keep your leg on.

We've started going to Supreme Showdown near Liverpool. You meet lots of new people and can have fun. The only downside for ours was the unfamiliarity of indoor rings with crowds, cameras, mirrors etc.

A friend has just bought a 1996 Daf 45 which has the original cassette radio. The wagon has an isolator fitted, but no leisure battery therefore no permanent live to the radio. I assume modern replacement radios will have to have the security code entered every time, or is there a way around this?

I would go for breeches too rather than jods. As for boots, a pair of paddock boots and some secondhand Ariat half chaps would see him well. Give him the real look with a jumping crop tucked into the chaps.
