    Rain Ranting Thread

I am so fed up of the weather, we have a lake in the field and the only joy that brings is we have ducks and geese flying in which are lovely to see. Got to think of a positive! Poor ponies need a break from it as they live out 24/7. Could bring them in but they hate being restricted and chose...

    Never simple is it? Lami/cushings

I feel for you, it is hard to know what to do for the best when they do not fit into the usual fat, overfed, under exercised category. I had a welsh d x TB who developed laminitis as a seven year old on returning from being schooled. She had bouts over and over again, like you kept her off the...

Has anyone ever had a horse/pony that attacked other horses it was led past/with? How did you fix it?

My first pony was very aggressive to other horses, she was only 14hh but would attack anything that got within reach. It came to a climax when she attacked our other horse getting hold of her bottom lip and ripping it almost off. Spoke to the vet as she was getting worse who suggested it was...

Can you ride an impregnated mare?

I rode mine until about two months before due date, hacking only. Led her out in hand then until birth just to keep her moving. Started leading her and foal out when foal as about a month old. Not far but kept mare going and foal saw lots of sights, traffic, people and dogs and was always...

    Home or livery ?

Mine have been at home for thirty years now and being able to get up on a lovely spring morning and walk out the stables in my pyjamas to see the horses is bliss. Saying that haven't ridden for eight years as but just love having them wher i can see them through the kitchen window.

Miniature horses - anything I really need to know

Having just one doesn't seem to be a possibility, they tend to multiply before your very eyes. They are fun, easy but love breaking fencing while trying to find the greener grass. Never, ever leave them in the garden with your doors open, they will come in and try and raid the cupboards. Warn...

    Horses being passed around..

It's so sad how many horses are passed around when no longer fit for purpose. I have never sold a horse and my homebred mare was retired at 7 and she was PTS earlier this year at the age of 29. Just a few months off her 30th birthday. Horses are just a commodity for many unfortunately.

To move or not to move

I have owned my cob for 17 years, he is perfectly fit and healthy but I stopped riding him seven years ago. He is a happy boy as a field ornament. I do miss riding but don't miss riding him.

Cheeky/ridiculous posts you see on Facebook.

This breaks my heart, I do not know how anybody can do this.

    Chestnut or Liver Chestnut 🌰

So pretty, have no idea but she is lovely. My foal was born the same colour as the underneath of a mushroom, almost pinky. Vet insisted she would either be grey or liver chestnut. Both parents bay and she turned out as black as a horse can get.

    End of an era

I bred my beautiful Welsh D X TB from my much loved cob pony, she had so many health issues and was retired at the age of 7. She became sound when she was too old to bring back into work but was a much loved and spoilt part of the family. She would have been 30 next month but unfortunately...

What do you pay for shoes?

The last time I had a horse shod I paid £25 for a full set, very glad all mine are now barefoot!
