    Insurance for freelance groom

I'm struggling to find a quote without making phone calls and completing extensive questionnaires (reasonable but time consuming!) and just wondered if anyone had a recommendation for acquiring insurance as a freelance groom/yard person, please? Are there any companies that you would recommend...

    CT scan - how much?

Hey all - just an update! I had her scanned at Bristol Langford for £650, including all fees, consultation etc. Staff were very professional and impressive, kept me updated and helped me load her up again. Newmarket were £1000 plus, London was going to be my first choice though but they didn't...

    CT scan - how much?

Hi there - could I possibly message you about this, please? This has been ongoing with my girlie (had the bone flap surgery to drain sinus and catheter - no dice, fluid came back in sinuses) and it's been incredibly stressful not knowing how it may proceed!

    CT scan - how much?

A super quickie! I've searched back but can find lots of people saying their horses have gone for CT scans yet no numbers, unfortunately. We have an ongoing sinus issue and the specialist has recommended a CT scan of the head/sinuses (you get the gist!). What sort of price range have people...

Can someone please explain to me why horses are better kept in as much as possible, because I just don't get it!

The graduate stabbed me in the eye during my test and told me I was being difficult, I am more than a little put off as I am also told that my eyes are very sensitive. It's not a stress that I want to go through at the moment as I felt like the smallest person in the world coming out of that...

Can someone please explain to me why horses are better kept in as much as possible, because I just don't get it!

I appreciate the suggestion but the cost is prohibitive currently. :)

Can someone please explain to me why horses are better kept in as much as possible, because I just don't get it!

Admittedly, I do not enjoy riding in the rain anymore because I wear glasses (and I was put off contacts due to a graduate optician treating me unpleasantly... I may try again). I did one ride across the Wiltshire hills with glasses and I couldn't see very much at all! Just a "grab mane and hope...

Can someone please explain to me why horses are better kept in as much as possible, because I just don't get it!

I keep in if: - THe ground conditions are dreadful in the sense that they will cut it up terribly (however, I have now sectioned off some hard standing for them in case of this). - To save the ground (stabling overnight in winter). - Extreme weather (in during hottest parts of heatwave when no...

    Teeth and snot

My mare just had a one-sided snot problem, which turned out to be a large blockage of pus in her sinuses, poor girl. They xray first usually to check if it is a broken tooth, abscess etc draining into the sinus and thus causing the snotty nose problem.

    Your Horse live Tickets

Planning to go this year as Maxima rugs have a great deal on and I need a big event to look at some specific equipment: larger browband, new headcollars, great deal last year better than ebay!), a heavier lunge rope, lunge cavessons, string girth... There's probably more on my list but I'm...

Aldi equestrain stuff in store today

Picked up a spare lead rope and the long socks, although all the fleeces were too large for me (started at size 10 in my shop). Could have done with a lightweight rug but it's the medium weights that were there in preparation for winter (makes sense!). The headcollars looked smart though and the...

    Am I very risk adverse?

I definitely wouldn't, even if it was a child held on (but that's just me).

When do you know its time to stop riding

As long as they're happy when you're getting into the older years especially! Helps keep them mobile too.

    Mudfever boots

I heard the Equilibrium ones were very good but I would be concerned about mud squishing up them. You'd need a spare pair too to dry them out between wet days, which could get pricey very quickly.
