Failing as a puppy parent already

You’ll get there, it just takes time and patience. Our dog definitely regressed a bit when she was a puppy. If your dog is doing wees on carpet I definitely recommend powder to clear it up rather than spray and scrubbing. You shake the powder on, leave it for a while and then hoover it...

    What to do? Advice?

Usually a specific party is responsible for each partition. For example, we are responsible for the fence on the left of our garden, our neighbours on the other side are responsible for the fence on the right hand side. You probably need to check who is responsible for which side first. If you...

Insuring someone to ride your horse

Is she self-employed? Any earnings will be subject to tax and NI. If she’s employed by you then you’ll need to make the arrangements, as well as sort out pension contributions. If she’s self-employed it’s down to her but you have to see evidence that she is self-employed...

How much should I charge for a loan?

I’d say around £30pw but it’s a question of finding the right person - one who only wants to ride in the week, is competent etc, so you may have to be prepared to negotiate.

    Kissing spine

Unfortunately the injections didn’t work for my horse. I don’t recall the cost of surgery though, my insurer paid most of it thankfully. My horse had bone removed and it certainly wasn’t keyhole judging by the scar on his back, that was about 7.5 years ago.

Advice on Consumer Regulations - Refund/Return of Horse

I bought a horse with kissing spines! I had him vetted and he seemed totally fine. I couldn’t ride him for about 3 weeks after I got him home as I was waiting for a saddle but straight away there were issues. Had Physio out, had saddle adjusted etc. Eventually get suggested KS which it...

    Finding decent sharers/riders - how?

If I saw an advert that said the horse needed bringing back into work it would imply (to me) that the horse was going to be very difficult. An unfit horse won’t bother anybody that’s properly interested. I’d take it off the advert and explain when people call.

    Finding decent sharers/riders - how?

I didn’t know there was a riding club tbh! Just found their website but can only see events listed for 2016! Is it definitely still running? I’m north of Bury so Long Melford is too far (40 mins away) but I’ll defo try Dawn’s tack box, I was fancying popping in there for...

    Hello from Suffolk

Hi, my real name is Clare and I’ve just joined. I live in Suffolk and am just returning to riding after having 7 years off. I previously had my own horse and have part-loaned before too. Looking forward to being part of the horse community again 😊

    Finding decent sharers/riders - how?

Hmm unfortunately not - I’m about a 6 hour drive away so probably a teensy bit too far!! 🤪

    Possible kissing spine... why??

Glad it’s not kissing spine. I was holding off telling you my horror story which ended with my horse being pts 7 years ago! Hope the Bute and rest helps!

    Finding decent sharers/riders - how?

I’m having a similar problem - finding a horse suitable for me to ride. I can’t find anything nearby but it would also need to be free or very cheap at the moment. Happy to do yard duties though, I enjoy mucking out and poo picking! Where is the best place to look? My local yard is...
