The dog you want? or love the one you're with :)

Too many breeds not enough time. Providing I have the time and space I would have anything i think that would suit my lifestyle. Always had a thing for Deerhounds or maybe a Deerhound x Grey. Never had a lab so would quite like one at some point and a viszla. My girlfriend and I used to walk an...

Full time work with dogs & horses!

The problem with potentially rescuing would be i doubt a rescue centre would actually give you a dog considering your circumstances. Ive read peoples posts on here who sound like they have a more than appropriate set up and get turned down. Also, if you do go ahead, what are the cost of...

    Beagle killed in dog attack

and the penis thing was tongue and cheek, wan't meant to cause offence

    Beagle killed in dog attack

Who mentioned staffies? a Bully Kutta is a dog bred purely for fighting and shouldn't be available to general public

    Beagle killed in dog attack

Those dogs are nothing more than a penis extension. Seems so easy to claim these dogs aren't a banned breed by saying they're cross's - should be made to prove it. Ok - you're saying it's a cross, we think its not, prove us wrong. I'd have a lot more dogs on the band list personally.

    Stirrup length

I've always found it more comfortable with a longer leg but I dont know if thats because im quite tall and I learnt that way? I rode shorter than i usually would the other day and my right ankle was in bits by the time i got off. So not really sure what to do as I would like to be able to do...

    Beginner Rider with some Questions

I did similar when i learnt, did the riding school stuff on the pretty boring, safe cobby types but also rode my friends Andalusians. Tbh, they both worked well together, i learnt what i needed to in the riding school and improved me seat, then put it all into practice on the very forward going...

    Help - I rescued a Patterdale!!

Sounds like you're making steps forward with him and anyone that's willing to rescue a Crocodale deserves a medal in my eyes. I really dont have much advise other than, would you be happy tailoring your life around him, more so than a normal dog? For me, that really takes some of the enjoyment...

Do you think dogs make good burglar deterrents?

Do you find Whippets are alert to noise or are they too content on the sofa lol

    dog breed ID please

I personally feel that this particular breed has no good reason to be sold in the UK apart from making someone money obviously as i'm sure theyre priced exorbitantly. Any dog that barks will be enough to put off the average burglar but if someone wants to get into your property they will...

    I'd love a border collie - but should I?

Am i right in saying some rescues let you do a trial period to see if/how they bed into their potential new life? that could be an option to see how your current dog deals with another member of the family. Also, do agree that older dogs sometimes give pups more leeway. I can't give a lot of...

    Suitable breeds

FYI, Beagles can also be whatsits for wandering as they just get their noses down and follow a scent. Lovely dogs tho

    Suitable breeds

My vote would be a Border Terrier, fantastic dogs with brilliant temperaments. My friends has a BT x JRT and he is fantastic, great with kids, other dogs loves a good walk but equally happy to laze around the house. I believe he is 3/4 BT so has more of a border temperament and colour but with a...

    Belgian Malinois?

A friend had one and it scared the life out of me, enough for me to not want to go to his house lol. Was aggressive towards men and very protective of the family. Im sure it was down to lack of training and socialising but can't say i would have one

Getting a puppy and can't decide on what breed would be best.

Without repeating everyone too much - I would avoid the short faced breeds, health wise mainly but they cost a fortune atm. I think GR are fantastic and if you keep them in good nick look absolutely stunning! Another vote for whippets or whippet crosses and like splashgirl said keep an eye out...
