Bruised bars - bitting suggestions please

The Sprenger duo has the narrowest mouthpeice I could find in a non-metal bit (16mm), and it is slightly shaped on the underside so it takes up even less room over the tongue. Of the many I have tried, it is the only bit my sensitive young pony will tolerate - I really rate it. I personally use...

Fly rug without neck but with a belly flap?

I might be looking for the impossible, but I am looking for a fly sheet that doesn't have a full neck (or a detachable one) but with a belly flap. Does anyone have a rug like this or know of one? Thanks!

    Calling all barehoof owners...

I also pay £45 for each of mine to a barefoot trimmer, I think a lot of this includes his travel as he is not local. When I used a farrier it was around £20/25

    horse dragging nose?

My headshaker does this at times - A nosenet would be a very simple and cheap way thing to try initially

Thoughts on Liveryman Harmony Battery Pack Clippers?

Mine just about managed a full clip on my native. I think they would have been fine for a first clip, but I left it quite late and they struggled especially over her back and quarters. I do like them though

Skinny leggy child best saddle ?

I have a 16" Kent and Masters pony club saddle, in the long leg version. It has worked really well for me and my youngster now that we need something more forward cut than the dressage saddle she was broken in

Is there a supplement to fix stupid? Or at least help with focus

I have a part bred TB pony who is exactly like this. I have had her since she was 2, now nearly 6 and although she has always been fairly easy to deal with, she is very much in a world of her own a lot of the time. I've never met another pony quite like her. I've tried feeding a calmer in the...

    Energy for a veteran barefooter?

I was going to suggest grass nuts as well. I was feeding my old mare the blue bag grass nuts until our grass started coming through properly, its really easy to tailor the amount you feed through the year to how your grazing is looking

    Dilemma-barefoot

If the grass is long, he will struggle to eat it with a muzzle on. I would be moving yards if I was you, it sounds less than ideal for him to be stabled for that amount of time.

    Coffin joint arthritis

I might be wrong when I say he wont do injections - I can just remember that when she was first lame in front several years ago, he wouldn't, but she was quite severely overweight at the time as she had had a lot of time off due to her hocks, so it might be an option this time if she is less of...

    Coffin joint arthritis

She already wears hoof boots when we hack out, we too tried the route of remedial shoeing but she showed little improvement so we took them off, and she improved 100% at the time being barefoot. I've just started using her boots to get in and out of the field as its a horrid stony track to her...

    Coffin joint arthritis

This might get a bit long, so sorry in advance - if anyone has any experience with coffin joint arthritis I would really love to hear about it. My old mare hasn't been right on her front feet, one in particular, since she has been turned out 24/7 for summer. I was hoping she had just tweaked...

    Wintec Saddle fitting.. Gullets

I had this problem with my youngster over winter - she was between a wide and an xwide, so I put xwide in and used a wither pad until she grew into the xwide. I would rather have it too wide and use a pad if necessary than to have it too narrow and pinching. Just keep an eye on it and change it...
