Both my welshies have had dectomax injections a few weeks apart, no reactions. One vet suggested Frontline as well as the injection. The last time I noticed one of them chewing his legs, I used pig oil and sulphur and he stopped chewing within a few days. I did put some aromaheel on the scabs...
Last yer the hay supplied on the farm where I keep my horses ay rye grass, so I had it tested for sugar content It came back as only 7% sugar whereas the meadow hay was 11% sugar. The same grass as alo used to make silage for the cattle and they don't ike it as it's not sweet enough.
Hi Melanie,
I asked my vet the same question a few weeks ago when I saw how much my insurance renewal was for. She said to keep the value the same in case of death through colic etc but my policy says pay out will be market value, not insured value. Haven't yet decided what to do, but I'd...
I can't believe that someone else's horse poos against the wall, my gelding does exactly the same, leaving a round poo mark on the wall wherever he has been. I have the scrub the wall every morning to clean up. He used to poo on the fences in the field too, but seems to have grown out of that now.
Glad it's not only me then! I wouldn't like to say how many weekends I have wasted turning up and waiting for people who fail to show up and don't have the decency to text or call and say they can't make it.
It took over a year to get my ex-trotter to canter, and even now if startled, he always trots rather than canters. When he did finally get the idea that cantering was allowed, there was a good deal of yippee bucking. He has always been able to canter disunited and swaps legs and changes back at...
My gelding had problems several years running, he has pink muzzle and lips. First thing I noticed was a slight cough/clearing the throat kind of noise, then he had trouble passing urine. Vet came out and looked at gums and eyelids, very pale and yellow. He confirmed buttercup poisoning was...
My youngster loves being out next to calves but they want lush grass and he definately doesn't. He licks each one on the face, and they all line up for the wash, so cute. I do also worry that some have ringworm, but they all get along fine.
You can get a little plastic tick remover from the vet or pet shop which is much easier and quicker to use than anything else I have tried. The only disease I have experienced as a result of a tick bite bite is Lymes Disease, I dn't think it is very common in this country, and the tick which...
Hope you have better success with Trading Standards than I did. They told me horse/animal foodstuffs are not covered by the same guidelines as human food products. I was sold a bag of feed 6 months out of date and neither the shop, feed manufacturer or trading standards really wanted to know...
