I would agree that he is taking advantage, the longer it goes on the worse for both of you. It does not sound to me that he is unsaleable, but I agree I would sell him via sales livery or the Yard owner.
I have a coloured horse and white makes him look grubby however much I scrub him! I was dubious but my dressage diva friend said "check your rule book, white is not compulsory, any plain colour is allowed" Dougal now wears a black saddlecloth and looks v. smart indeed.
I have good rubber matting in my trailer, and have always travelled my horse with no shavings etc. I am now travelling further afield and wonder if I should put shavings down. I had a nosey at a recent competition and it was about 50/50 . What are the positives/negatives (I worry they might be...
I look on the websites of reputable localish dealers, they usually have the market right, they know what they can sell the horses at. At the moment around 3 to 4k would give you a wide choice of decent all rounder. There do seem to be "tiers" tho, Horses that sound identical, one at say £2500...
Agree with Alice and Pinkyboots...he is very young. Also, if he was rearing 9 months ago and is still only three...by my reckoning he sounds well overdue for a bit of time off. If he was mine it would be the whole winter!
When I sold mine I still had control, I was at all his viewings at sales livery and am still in touch with his buyer...it is not a case of just hand them over to a sales livery and forget about them..I went through sales livery as their trial facilities were far superior to mine and the location...
I was in the same position a couple of years ago. I put my boy on sales livery, with a very reputable trainer. She gave me an opinion of his value (a couple of thousand more than I thought btw). I, however, advertised him extensively as well, as like you I did not want him to be on sales livery...
I don't understand what a mild general anaesthetic is? I thought if you have a general it knocks you out i.e. renders you unconscious (for want of a better word) If this is the case then the horse would not be able to stand, anymore than I could under a general. I am genuinely interested in...
Yes, this is my question also. 16hours seems excessive to starve the horse, no food after midnight is what we are told if we have to starve anything for a blood test etc (Although GA may well be different of course)
Yet another vote for Premier Equine, They are very good quality and versatile. I have also used Mark Todd which fit OK but nowhere near the quality. I also find amigo's far too shallow. Weatherbeeta slip terribly on mine, And I've never been a fan of Masta, the necks seem to "choke" the horses...
I have a pair of the Brogini Jodh boots, bought for £39 3 years ago. I wear them constantly through the summer. I honestly could not believe the quality for the price, they feel expensive! I am an ariat girl, having their trainers , clogs and shoes, but I couldn't stretch to the expensive joddy...
Every case has different circumstances and is also age related, however, I bought an underweight young (4) horse from Ireland in April. After 2 weeks he started losing his edges (as my friend put it!) and in 6 weeks looked a diiferent horse. I would stress that is important to introduce/increase...
