Seriously??
Would I have the 29 year old cushings boy but who acts and moves like a 4 year old and is a happy old fart put down to have in his place a rescue horse....NO way!!!
Ridiculous
I was at the sales he was sold at, and he was indeed brought by these people as unbroken, however from his general behaviour at the sale if say his groundwork was excellent!
Thank you all, and moomin I def will try your idea!
Sadly mine without boots is a recipe for disaster, to many cuts and bangs later! I have 4 horses and he is the only one that is booted for turnout, I do however have him in the airflow boots and have taken the fronts off, it's just his backs!
Please be kind and help me show mg friend who is new to horse keeping some new reasons why horses should not have the same boots on 24/7!
She leaves the same boots on in stable/field/ridden work and changes them for a different set only once a week, I believe that it's my fault as my horse...
I boot or bandage for schooling
Boot for hacking
Boot for turnout if likely to be fresh or silly
Boot for lunging
Tendon and fetlock for sj
And def boot for xc
Also one of my horses wears x 4 over reach boots when doing anything other than slow hacking!
Nightmare! My boot and bandage...
The weather is changing :(
The evenings/ mornings are really quite cold, I've had to rug at night..eww
And all the horses are starting to hang around the gate at about 6/7pm...
I just thought I would depress everyone there :P
Fingers crossed for a warm September
Update!
Vet came yesterday, he is sound on both reins, flexions etc, he has a slight bit of pain over the 'typical area' for kissing spines, he also is reluctant to bend his head to the left..
The vet doesn't think it's anything un manageable but we will X-ray the are next week to be on be on...
I hate these threads!
I'm over weight but have lost over 5 stone too ride again, my weight gain was so sudden, I had a misscarriage and didn't think it bothered me much as it wasn't planned and I wasn't ready to be a mum but I honestly think that was a trigger to my weight gain and it took 2...
The original plan was to give him intill September off but I can't shake the niggling feeling that I need to know what if anything is going on.
If I why him checked now then least I know if he needs rest/retirement/ or a big kick up the butt!
No bute trial, I do have stacks of bute but think I will wait for vet now.
Scoped for what? Ulcers? It's a possibility, my other ex racer had ulcers which are now under control hopefully, but I treat this horse as if he has ulcers too!
